It's nice to have friends that

own their own business.

Today I went to the pawn shop and found an 1980 Case Hawkbill pruner (a little rough but nice)
and a Citizen Chronograph WR100 (no pics of watch yet)

Since I have been watching "Pawn Star" I believe that my skills have gotten better on dealing.
I told him that I would write a figure down and see if he likes it, he did the same and we revealed them to one another.

Mine was $50 his $70, "Meet me half way with $60.00." I told him that I really didn't need them so I couldn't.

So he mentioned that the Citizen was a $130.00 watch and that the Case was about $40.00
I told him that wasn't what he paid for them (he probably paid around $30.00 for the Citizen and $8-10 for the Case).

Then I did the classic "Fifty dollar cash right now." no trading just cash he hee haw'd around a little
that is when I told him "You could just put them back."  "Now we can't have that" was his reply.

Couple minutes later I was walking out the door with a Citizen and a Case.

Before I went to the pawn shop I ended up at a garage sale and found a Wenger watch with the Marlboro logo on the back.
It was marked $2.00 (its crown and stem was missing) I figured I have an old Wenger with probably the same movement so I bought it.

Took it to my friend that owns a jewelry store and asked him could he switch out the movements. He replaced the stem with one he had and the crown came off the old Wenger slapped a new battery in it and I asked him how much and he told me don't worry about it.

Today has been a day for watches.   I was also able to pick my wife up a ladies Citizen for $15.00 at an estate sale.

Sorry if it sounds like I am boasting (I am and I admit it) ::)

That's some good haggling :tu:  Nice score.

Before I moved I had a great arrangement with one of the larger pawn shops in the city.  I bought quite a bit of stuff and in the early days we haggled lots.  Eventually it got to me asking them what they'd got in an item adding a percentage for them and then telling them if I wanted the item or not   I was a good and useful customer so I got away with it ;)

I wish I had friends round here with "practical" jobs.  Alas it works the other way round, I'm the guy they come to see, to get stuff fixed, done etc. ::)  I do see the odd beer from it though :)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Yes it does but due to the large file size I thought it best to leave them as links :)   Fine if you're on your home connection but quite a few read the forum from their mobiles.
