From what I've seen so far in reading through the forums since I joined there are some fuzz about flash drive SAKs, but not really that much talk about flash drives in other multitools. I've been toying with the idea of adding a really flat flashdrive I have to my LM Skeletool, and make it a bootable version of Ubuntu. I'm a computer geek on top of being a tool geek so I carry around a
16GB multi-boot USB drive so I can do things like re-install Windows or various Linux version, or simply boot a non-booting computer to rescue files or whatever. You'd be amazed how often you need such a "tool" when you have a reputation of being a computer guy.
It occured to me that maybe the lack of such mods already is either 1) there are such mods but I haven't found them, or 2) people haven't found the right drives.
If 2) is the case, I thought I'd share some drives I have/know of that would be perfect.
There are two types of small drives, either flat drives or short drives. The first type you can find for example
here, or as a microSD reader
here. The second type is expensive with built in memory, but
cheap without.
I reckon the first type is excellent for adding as a layer in a tool, while the second type is more of a end piece or replacing something like the bit driver.
I have a Skeletool myself so I don't know where I'd put it, but it would sure be nice to be able to have my digital multitool on my physical one
