I'm really digging the +. Going to upgrade my 2 charge's to + and my 4 waves to + now! It's nice that Leatherman finally listened to the community with us modding and swapping components.

So I know this is basic stuff, but I’ve been meaning to add a clip to my Wave and it’s actually been a little difficult to find one of these accessories in my neck of the woods. Picked one up today, so here are a few pointers for anyone looking at this factory approved ‘mod’

My kit came with no instructions and I could not be bothered to look them up. Anyway, how difficult could it be?

There are 2 items in the kit. A clip and a lanyard loop. You could fit both on opposing handles, but it would mean ditching the current hideaway lanyard, so not sure why you need the replacement loop, unless you need a bigger, fixed one?

Anyway, the pictures below show a few key steps. You’ll need a T10 security torque bit with the hole in the tip to undo the pivot. Only one bit is needed as the female part of the pivot is shaved to fit a slot and will not rotate.

Once the handle end is off, you can insert the clip and reassemble?  Not quite...

The clip covers the hole to tighten the screw.

But no worries. Simple remove and reverse the pivot so the longer female slotted end that does not rotate is under the clip, and you can then tighten from the other side.  :)

Adjust the tightness to just tight enough to keep the bit driver and opener tools tight, but that you can still deploy with your fingernail.

I did not bother with thread lock, as I want to carry the Wave with the clip a few days to check this works for me.

Last point. LM cut a little recess near the top of the clip so you can still reach the file tip to deploy. Clever.  :salute:

So this job was probably quicker than this post, so ‘nuff said. job done.

It actually had you take it apart in the directions ??? This clip is just meant to be put in without modification or dismantling at all  I just push the lock tab on mine and slide it into the empty spot on it for the clip and the lanyard ring

EDIT: Read it wrong  I thought you said you had directions :ahhh

Just push the lock and it comes back off :salute: and will go right back on as well

Hey WS, you just saved the day! Yes, that would be the process to switch out the slide up lanyard. I don’t feel such an arse now.
