cheers mate,

hopefully you wont have to open it  :tu: but although i will do them up tight i learnt a trick a few years back and was told about using a big lump of sticky tack, it usually works, but i can put you onto the same kit i use and is affordable,

thanks allan, i do like the larger deepsea with no cyclops but have to say with my poor eye sight i prefer the really good magnification on that cyclops on the sub, ill be doing a little project of my own soon a milsub with no date , early 60's style with a large crown and a aged dial, ive wanted to do one for a while and seen the parts so ill be doing that soon,  :tu:

ok off to see about the case backs this am so more news later about this, ill add more useful info about automatic watches etc here for help with any of you guys who have not had one before plus other tips  :tu:

winding.

Winding a watch by hand is OK, but not really necessary if you have an available minute or two in your busy schedule. If your watch is relatively new, with 360 degree freedom of rotation on the rotor axis, simply hold your watch face up and 'swirl' it around at 2-3 rpm, the same motion with which you would swirl brandy in a snifter (or fruit juice if you are a Mormon or Moslem or simply a teetotaler). Do this for 1-2 minutes and the watch will have a couple of hours' worth of power reserve accumulated. Then wear it and the rest of the power reserve will build up fairly quickly. A Rolex, for example, accumulates about 3 minutes' running time for every turn of the rotor. Twenty turns of the rotor give you an hour's power reserve. 60 turns, not a very demanding effort, give you 3 hours.

The above is for a 360 degree rotor. For a 'bumper' such as used in non-Rolex automatics up to the '60s, gently shake the watch side to side for a couple of minutes. You should hear and feel the bumping if the orientation of the watch is right.

you can also use the crown, just unscrew the crown and wind clockwise  :tu:

set date,
pull crown out carefully to its next setting and turn anticlockwise, tip set date day before, then click to max setting and do the time, once for have gone past 12pm it will click to the next date, then set time for the day  :tu:then screw the crown back for water resistance, it has 2 gaskets in the crown so tight enough that it wont let in water but so you can undo it again  :tu:

with all automatics i find there time is very good but improves with use, i wear a automatic every day and i never take a watch off and find the time very good with these movements,  :tu:

hope some of this helps but please ask if any more info needed  :tu:

yeah i think this is the way ill go as not too fussy,  :tu:

ok a little ST-16 information  :tu:

Seiko 7S26 and the Sea-Gull ST16 movement are both 21,600bph.the st-16 is a robust ETA copy movement, less fussy or decorated than a swiss ETA movement but a great 21jewel movement .i was after the reliability of a Seiko movement but with less cost , ive used and tested these movements for over 3 years now and they keep good time and reliability , i dont abuse my watches for the sake of science but i do go out on my bikes etc with no problems, for abuse i use a G-shock , the deepsea will also have a st-16 in it as well,

To save yourself a space if you substitute a letter for the year,
2010 – A, 2011 – b

                               MT.o
                              Z.A.03

hmm nice idea and would take up less space, what about next to the A a 1 so A1 1 meaning first run   :D
