   :D  Sounds like your job requires Sapphire... or plexi and the polishing wheel.

If you were not one of the first to get yours you might not have been so exicited....

I wore my g-shock for a little while today... I think it'd actually look better with some scratches...

G's are great for more abusive work , sapphire are great but expensive, i can fit a plexi ryan with no cyclops there easy to buff up with polywatch first just lightly rub the plexi with wet n dry, the buff in a side to side motion with polywatch, mask off the bezel first,  :tu:  this could be a future mod for your watch ryan, ill be getting 6 domed plexis for the milsub project so let me know and ill order 7  :tu:

I'm impressed w/sapphire.  I have a Victorinox w/ETA quartz movement and domed sapphire.  I really don't know what it would take to f that watch up.  It has seen some incredible abuse in the past 5-6 years--there isn't a scratch on the crystal and it's still amazingly accurate.  Honestly, you don't need an atomic when you have a quartz ETA like this one.

Regardless of the greatness of that watch, I think I will love my Z.A1 even more!!  :salute:

Got mine!  Still deciding if I like the cyclops...

Very cool, my first real Auto watch (not counting the horrid Swatch that lasted less than a week before breaking down, twice).

I think I'm hosed.  Now I want to collect watches.  Not all watches, just the ones you make.

Ugh, now I'm screwed...

 :twak:

BTW, do all the clasps have the "links" look on the bottom?  It's kinda funny.  Should have one of your Anchor or skull ones from ZA2!

I like it kinda wish I had gone with a nato band but that's easily remedied. The watch wears great. The second hand is about as smooth as my 6309 diver which is nice. The only flaw I see is that there seems to be some paint or finish wear on my second hand. It doesn't really bother me since this watch was meant to be worn and in the end it will only add character. The cyclops also seems to be off kilter a smidge on mine but that could be an illusion. All in all I am happy with my purchase and I look forward to the future projects.

Just curious, how come you would prefer the nato band?

Mainly because the steel band is hard to get fit right. Its either a little too loose or a littlw too tight.  That and the natos don't pinch my arm hair like the steel band does.

I used a Wenger Minathor to remove all 3 replaceable links, and to adjust the bracelet clasp 1 notch smaller for a reasonable fit.
The bracelet should have allowed for an addtional removable link on the short side so the clasp would be positioned better.

I'm use to some pretty nice watches, and the excitement for me in this project was mainly 3 things.

1. I had never owned a Submariner style watch, since this project started though I now have 3 (2 subs and a deep sea).  I think it's my thing for black, but these days I like the submariner style sometimes.  I'm glad this project inspired me to checkout the historical Submariner, I think in the past from my experience with the Omega SeaMaster I figured they were not for me.  I'll tell you there is a lot of variety in just the different Submariners Homage (clone) watches.

2. I recently bought a couple Chinese and Russian movements, I was impressed.  Some of them have been finished and manufactured to a very high quality.  As such I wanted to get a Seagull ST-16.

3. The most important. I love watches, and I thought it would be VERY cool to have an MTO watch that was actually assembled by a member of the forum.  This for me is what really makes this watch special.

My quick analysis of the watch itself is the case is quite nice.  The engraving on the back of the case is very nice!  Overall it's lighter weight than I expected, but this is mostly due to the bracelet.  The Bezel functions quite nicely, just a little too easy to rotate for a dive watch and cosmetically I've been spoiled by some of the new ceramic bezels.  The bracelet is disapointing, If I can find one of my natos in the right size I believe I'm likely to try it on this watch.  The movement interaction is pretty good. Hacking is solid, it has some of the weird behavior of earlier movements during adjustment, the hacking appeared solid, and the winding quality felt about medium. I might open the watch one day to have a closer look.  The printing on the 'day' dial is not very high quality.  I did not test the lume.

The case is tough and this seems like a great watch to put on and not worry about while your out using your swiss army knives for fun, work, and profit.

That's my mini 60mins of ownership review.  This is a great watch to have because I'll always remember the great forum when I put it on, and it's a watch I can take with me doing chores with the SAK.

Thanks again Paul!  This was a wonderful idea!

I don't know that it makes much of a difference, but for now I've reversed the clasp on my bracelet which provides a slightly better fit by altering the length distribution between top and bottom because I've used 1 notch in the clasp adjust.  The look is improved my keeping the clasp slightly more centered and more links on the top outwardly exposed side visible.  The downside is the opening now is non traditional, but maybe lightly easier since it a straight downward opening of the safety catch rather than upward.
