Guess what I gots!
on: September 02, 2007, 03:31:57 AM
I just got a SOG Tool Clip (full sized one) from a member here- and dang is this thing gorgeous!  Not a mark on it, brand new in box!

It's the later one, without the screwdriver tip.

I love these non-folding plier tools as you may have guessed!  I'll get some photos up tomorrow, but I wanted to show off a bit now!

If you've got it, flaunt it!  ;D

I haven't got a non-folding plier tool, might look into getting one. The buck one looks nice aswell.

Yup- it's a beauty.  I'll have to get the SwissGrip and the SOG's little brother out and get some pictures of them all together.  I also have a knockoff of the SOG, so that might make a nice comparison shot as well!  Precision manufacturing vs a company that can't even put the puffy stickers on straight!  :D

I've always had a good opinion about the ToolClip. Bullet proof and solid as a rock it is. Too bad SOG didn't continue to advance the line. I can think of a couple things I'd ask for on a ToolClip II.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Yeah, me too.  Nice design, but certainly room for some improvements.

I really do like the solid plier feel of the non folding plier models though.  That's why I have been drooling over the Zilla.  It would be nice to see a return of this style of tool.

It's too bad SOG didn't run with that idea...they'd be the only American multi manufacturer using that design (Wenger being the other in Europe)...one handed opening blade...maybe retracting plier jaws..needle nose...oh well :P

Yeah, I really like the fixed plier concept, especially for a heavy user.  The pliers feel much sturdier than many dedicated pliers I have, and they really feel like they could handle just about anything and come back for more.

I don't mind the extra bulk, especially if I am expecting to need heavy duty pliers.  If I doubt I'll need anything too serious, then yeah, these might seem too awkward, especially if you are targeting the person who only has one tool.

For folks that have a choice or need super heavy duty pliers, I think the SOG and SwissGrip are unparalleled.
