Well Jie, maybe you just need to spend more time in a dissection room to fully appreciate it... :P

Seriously, like anything else, some are bound to like it, some not.  That's why we have choice in the first place!  :D

I'm not talking about the refill. The shiny ring and thread refill screws into is plastic. As for cost, my zebra F701 has all stainless shell that's much thicker, and cost the same as SS sharpie. If sharpie made the shell same thickness as F701 it would feel much better.

Heh heh... I completely agree with you again.   :D

The SS Sharpie isn't even close to Zebra standards. The SS Sharpie is basically just a regular plastic Sharpie half stuck into a fat SS cigar tube.  :P

The shell of a 701 isn't all that thick, the barrell part is, but its not the same thickness throughout the pen.  I will try to cut one up soon to show what I mean.

Yikes, you don't need to sacrifice your pen. We believe you!  :D :D

jzmtl was critical of the thickness. I just don't like the basic design and feel.

When writing with it, you are essentially holding a plastic refill cylinder. The SS is really just a case to contain the pen when carrying it, rather than an integral part of the pen.

As well, the plastic tapers towards the tip, so that your fingers slide downward as you apply pressure. They put no thought into a grip. They could have even had knurling if this was a real SS instrument.

Overall, I just find the writing experience much better with the regular plastic Sharpie.

I wouldn't be so critical of it, except that I feel ripped off at the price they are charging for it. Comparable products at that price point are more carefully thought out and offer much higher quality.

Sharpie basically just slapped a cheap SS cap and tail on their regular plastic pen and started asking 6X the price. That's what bugs me...  >:(

I picked up one of these about a week ago. I love the thing, it feels incredibly well made. I showed it to a colleague and she immediately went out that night to get one.

My other favorite Sharpie item right now is the Sharpie PEN. It's permanent like any other Sharpie but doesn't bleed on paper. They just started making them in retractable form, which is great. My complaint on the "capped" ones was that the plastic used to make the cap was too brittle and broke. But, a retractable Sharpie pen with a pocket clip - doesn't get any better.
The Sharpie Pens are my absolute favorites!  I have them everywhere and use them all the time.  I haven't seen the retractable form yet, but I'll be getting them soon if I can find them.  They are really awesome little pens.  I use the mini Sharpie markers on my badge at work and keep one on my keychain too.  They are extremely handy.  I can't wait to try the SS one.

Well, I FINALLY picked up the Sharpie Pen and remembered Kelly's mention of them here so I thought I would post my thoughts on them.  I saw both the capped and retractable versions but it looks like the tip on the retractable version can dry out (can they?) so I picked up the original cap version.  It's actually pretty good! Very smooth ink, and the pens feel much lighter than other pens.  They write just as smooth as a rollerball... maybe even better!  I don't like the super-fine tip though...  must hope for a medium tip.

I finally got a Stainless Steel Sharpie. I didn't necessarily want one but I saw it at a store and got it. After a week or so I like it. I think for the price it is well made and rugged. Now granted I'd love for it to be a bit bigger but it would also drive up the cost.

To me, it functions essentially the same as the regular Sharpie.  The beauty of this thing is:

They are uncommon enough that it's much easier to keep a hold of (ie, easy to tell if someone picked up your sharpie  :twak:)

Yeah but regular markers are paid for by work, you have to buy SS and refill yourself.  :P

Well, I've been carrying the Stainless Sharpie for almost 2 months. I have had zero problems with it. It writes well and I'm still on the original ink cartridge. I only have 1 minor complaint. I like to wear T-shirts and usually just stick the Sharpie in my neck band. The clip is a bit tight so sometimes it can cause the neck to wrinkle up. But it's not too bad unless I'm constantly using it. Or constantly playing with it. Which I usually am.

As has been stated before, I'd really like to buy different color cartridges for it. I'd also like a jumbo sized version. Sometimes when my arthritis in my hands is acting up using a fatter writing implement helps a little. But all in all I gotta give this a big thumbs up.  :tu: :tu: :tu:
