Ladies and gents,

I'd like to do my own "little bit" to support Dave Bowen and his family in his time of need. Actually, in truth, I'm asking you guys to do a bit more :D

I have a huge amount of respect for Dave. Although I've never met him, his vast knowledge of multitools, his reviews and massive contribution to this site where we all spend so much of our time makes me feel like I know him really well. I'm sure that many will agree :)

Inspired by Tony (sparky415)'s fun and hugely successful Toolclip auction and some ideas we traded about it, I'd like to operate this along similar lines.

To avoid some potential difficulties with PayPal's code of conduct, we shan't refer to this as a "lottery", instead, I will invite people to make a donation, of a fixed amount of $5. Only one donation per person please, so that everyone gets an equal chance to win the prize.

To enter, simply send your $5 Paypal donation to the email address on my profile (click the icon under my avatar). PLEASE - make the payment as a "Personal Payment Owed" - we want the money to get to Dave - not for Paypal to keep any of it! Once you've done that - add your name to the list in the thread.

When I think we have enough money in the pot - I will select a winner, randomly, and someone gets the prize. I'd like to think we can get plenty of entries, I certainly hope we can :).



The picture shows my small, but well enough stocked Leatherman parts container. On top is an already slightly modified Leatherman Kick, in A1 condition.

The winner gets to specify the tool configuration that they would like in that Kick. Obviously, it needs to be possible, but I have a bit driver, scissors, and various other components that you might like - it's up to you. Most of you know that I have access to some genuine Leatherman maintenance tools, so the finished product will be built to factory standard, no chewed up fasteners!

I will use "as new" parts, thread lock and will find a nice sheath and bits (if you go with the bit adapter).

I'm happy to post this anywhere in the world at my cost (i.e. your donation will go directly to Dave).

I know that people have shown great generosity in the last week or so, but someone is going to get a custom designed tool for $5 ;)

Please feel free to ask questions about the options, discuss what might be nice etc, but most of all, let's show Dave our support :)

There is no proper awl that will fit the Kick, but I'm more than happy to try making one by grinding down a flat head driver :)

TBH I think your setup is pretty spot on  :tu: Could an awl be added in addition to your Uber Kick or would something have to go?
