Almost bought a swissflash
on: August 12, 2010, 12:20:36 PM
I moved yesterday to some new digs to go to another university college, and today I was exploring the new city. I came across a store that had a couple of 2GB Swissflash SAKs on sale for 249 NOK ($40], down from 449 NOK. I had the retractable pen, white LED light, 2GB flashdrive, file, scissors and a blade. I even put it in my basket before going to put it back later.

The reason I skipped on the chance to get it is that I already have a 16GB drive in my wallet, a ITP A3 EOS upgrade edition Q5 flashlight, and a Vic Spartan SAK. The thought of adding another EDC SAK for the sake of a ballpoint pen seemed a bit far fetched, especially since I'm a student.

So, what do you think, should I have picked it up? I don't know if the SwissFlash is rare or anything like that, prices on Amazon seem to indicate it's not the most common SAK out there.

I also came across two LM waves, a Kick and a Vic Climber during my exploring. All were horribly overpriced, as is everything in Norway

249 isn't a bad price but I'd save your money for something else.  There are nicer models out there :)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Frankly, I think you can get better flash drives for the money.  They are indeed good quality drives, but as I found out when I dissected one a while back, they are virtually identical to the standard over the counter models- in this case a Firefly.

Still, $40 isn't bad, but I wouldn't pay that for a 2g drive, especially considering I just bought a super compact 8g model for about $25.

Ï have one of those tiny ones as well, or rather it's a microSDHC card reader which with a card added makes it a flashdrive, just more flexible since you can upgrade the card.

It's an Eagletec model- the yellow one shown above is actually a 4g.  The red one is an 8g, which is what I got.  I wanted one that didn't stick out much from the dashboard of the Jeep, since I have a USB port in the stereo.  I have nightmares about using a full sized flash drive and it getting broken off in the deck!

I have some Bluetooth adaptors that are this size, and I leave one plugged into my laptop at all times, and I love it.  I'd been waiting for a flash drive with that form factor for a while and I was thrilled when I finally found it.

I was going to get the 4g yellow one since 4g is more than enough mp3's to keep in the Jeep, plus the yellow one would match the Jeep, but they were almost the same price, and my Scottish genes wouldn't let me get a smaller drive for the same money!

why not just get some plus scales for the spartan.  Then you get the ballpoint pen for less than the swissflash would have cost you.

Don't want to remove the scales I have on

But just bringing a pen is no issue. Just need to find a small one that fits on my keychain

Well that makes since.  I have a small Ti pen that GG sent me awhile back that I keep on my keychain.  I get more compliments from that pen...and then they ask me how much it costs...Then I say you don't want to know.

Has anyone suggested the Fischer Trekker, Inka pen, or a Zebra F-301 Compact yet? >_>

Hei

Looking good!

249 for the Swissflash is a nice price i feel you would not be sorry if you  had bought it :)

Have used my 2GB for over a year and i was alittle uncertain at first if the storage capasity was enough, well atleast until now its been enough :)
