A timeline (not the kind I was looking for originally) showed up on website containing alot of information on 9/11 showing hijackers and what items they purchased on what dates, it also states that they don't know what items were used in the hijacking and what were not.

Anyways, thought it was interesting...

(this is the link http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline.jsp?timeline=complete_911_timeline&the_alleged_9/11_hijackers=otherHijackers )

I didn't know that's what they had. Depressing to think that the stuff I use and take pleasure in every day was used for such evil.

Don't forget, a couple of years ago Michigan was going to ban multitools because they were used in many criminal acts, such as car theft and B&E's.

I think we are overlooking the reality of all of this.  The real culprit is present in 99.5% of all crimes, violent or otherwise, is footwear.  Very few criminal acts are committed without shoes, boots sandals, and in rare cases, hip waders.  So, perhaps, we should petition the government to organize a committee to oversee the formation of a task force to study the relationship of criminal acts with respect to various forms of footwear.

Seems like I would have heard about that. Was it serious legislation, or just some sensationalist journalism?

Democrats Propose Michigan Law to Outlaw Swiss Army Knives and Multitools
As if Michigan did not already have enough useless and burdensome weapons laws, Representative Reps. Virgil Smith (D) and Murphy (D)have introduced HB 4092, which will ban the sale, manufacture or possession of:

    (f) Any sharp-edged, multibladed device, capable of being
carried on the person, with blades that are, or can be, locked into
place for use as a weapon.

Possession or sale of such a knife would be a felony.

Guess what? Under this proposed law, a Swiss army knife or any multitool having more than one sharp blade would be illegal. After all, these have mutltiple blades, and the blades could be "locked into place for use as a weapon".

It is wonderful to see the Michigan Democrats -- State that has tied for the most unemployment and slowest job growth -- playing to their constituency and fiddling with inane laws like these rather than working to help the state grow economically. Indeed, this law would contribute to even more job losses and slowing of economic growth as a whole new class of prohibited items would be created that could not be sold within the state.

Prediction: This proposed bill is DOI (Dead on Introduction) and likely to go nowhere and do nothing but waste the Legislature's time.

Haha... our state reps are hard at work trying to fix our economy.  They're trying to raise the State income tax!

wow...Imagine being arrested for possession of a Victorinox product ::)

It's amazing how crazy these people are...with everything going on in their cities, they still jump on any idea of outlawing a tool.

Surprising that they haven't considered outlawing hammers.  I'm sure a few of those have been used to smash car windows. :P

Bricks and rocks can be used as weapons and have also been used to smash car windows.  Lets ban all building materials.  Lets all eat baby food since we do not have to cut it.  I HATE THE LEFTIST COMMIE BLOODSUCKER POLITICIANS that are in our government.  Has a crime been committed by someone with out thumbs?  Maybe we should introduce a thumb tax for those evil dooers that have thumbs.  Yeah, that will stop crime. :) :twak:

Well, you know....it's always the weapon's fault that a crime was committed.  It's never the person who did the crimes, fault.  It's those nasty evil guns, and knives, and multi-tool's fault that crimes are committed.

I wonder if this means I can blame my pencil for misspelling words???

I'm hoping that Representative Virgil Smith (D) and Murphy (D) lost re-election by a landslide and got run out of town.

I don't know though, they weren't from my district. Mike?

I know that there is always someone out there that wants to ban somthing, that there is more good than bad to come out of somthing such as penalizing the masses.  Perhaps someone from across the pond can inform me here but is there a "legal" drinking age in Europe?  Over here it is 21.  I guess that anyone under 21 in the US does not know the dangers of drinking and driving, BS.  My grandmother taught me to handle a chefs knife when I was 3, yet I am not a murderer or dangerous with a blade.  Taking useful or pleasureable things away from people accomplishes nothing.

I'm being very broad, as in gun-specific, not Ruger-specific.  Since we're on the subject you have the nicest one I've ever seen  ;D.

Although I dislike the modern Republican Party, over the years of my lifetime I have learned to hate the SCUMSUCKING Democrat Party with true passion.  I was brought up not to be hateful toward anyone, but I really must make an exception for the Democrat Party.

The Republicans may be the STUPID Party, but the Democrats are the EVIL Party.  Given a choice, I'll pick STUPID over EVIL every time.

Virgil Smith is still a State Representive.  He's from district 007 in Detroit.  I think "Murphy" is Michael Murphy who was from district 68, which covers most of Ingham county.  Murphy lost his seat in the 06 state elections...

Bob... if you're wondering, I think you're in district 104 which covers Kalkaska and Grand Traverse counties.  Your Representive is (R) Howard Walker.

From what I can find on HB4092.  It was referred to Committee... nothings happened with it since February of 05.

I've got a few guns that have been in my cabinet for 13+ years.  I have yet to see them run off and kill someone... they don't move much on their own :P

Ah ok.  I thought maybe there was a Ruger incident.  Thanks for the comment about the gun too!  :)

I'm a registered Republican as well.  I've only ever known this modern-day Republican party.  But I've heard alot of good things about the Reagan years (i.e. lower taxes).

Unfortunately, I believe that we will have to keep on missing.  I do not forsee any changes in policy soon.  I just hope that whoever our leaders are in the future that they are multitool friendly.

Guys,

Can't we stay away from politics unless they affect our beloved multitools?

Nothing turns me off quicker than this discussion - from either side.
