Old Ferriers knife and Sam Houston's pistols
on: January 03, 2010, 03:00:55 AM
Today i went to the San Jacinto Monument down here in Houston. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Jacinto_Monument
They had a bunch of historical artifacts from the Texas Independance war time era  (1836ish)

The sign by it said this was used to clean horse hooves prob by a ferrier ..something of a horse blacksmith back in the day.

These were Sam Houston's personal firearms. Sam Houston to Texans is like George Washington to America  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Houston

You can tell that knife is old - the corkscrew is a helix instead of a worm.  :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Rather than a ferriers knife I would say its a riders knife. When riding a horse from time to time the rider will need to clean the hooves of their horse or remove a stone from the shoe. newer types can be found in equestrian mags.

I want that 51 Colt
I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.
