Surefire G2L
on: September 23, 2010, 10:25:50 PM
Just thought I'd post a pic of my new Surefire.  It's the G2L model.  Cheapest surefire in the lineup but
a very nice light with some good spill.  By the time you buy batteries and a sheath it's not so cheap
however I'm quite liking carrying it around.
I've got the bug so I might grab a smaller light for a more comfortable carry and then I quite like
Surefires  E2DL for a bigger let's go walking at night light.

Thanks Ben, it was a sale clearance.  The new one's coming out now have a higher lumen output.
This older model is rated at 80 lumen.

Good pickup Sean. I was lucky enough to get a C2L on closeout at an awesome price. What an awesome light. The P60L has always been considered an under performer by many but I have always liked the beam from it. I got a really good tint on mine also.

Yeah I agree it has a great spill of light.  I don't have anything really to compare it to as I'm just getting
started but I'm quite happy with it so far.  I'll look up the models you have and take a look.  :tu:

THat has the aluminum bezel right?

You can easily upgrade this by either adding a prebuilt P60 drop-in or building your own to your own specs.  Great platform if you want tons of mod possibilities.

Can you tell I like to mod?  I think 95%  of my lights are modded in some way.

Gunga, yes that's right with the aluminum bezel.  I don't think I will at this point have much interest in
mods but maybe in the future.  This light is plenty bright.  I might grab a more edc oriented light such
as the E1 Backup for comfort.

Sean nice Surefire.    :tu:    I have a black one I use at work. Its a great light that easily out performs every light of my coworkers. Of course they all have cheap LEDs claiming over 100+ lumens. But the reality is they are not nearly as bright as they claim even with fresh batteries.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

David,  thanks.  I hung out yesterday with a friend of mine who has been into LED lights for quite some time now
but he doesn't spend very much on them (which is fine).  We did compare his against my two and he was quite
surprised at how bright and efficient the beams were.  I agree that companies probably embellish claims a fair bit
getting into the "maximum lumens" game.  I'm really not going to get into modding any of my lights but have a few
different styles I'd like to acquire over the next few months or so to add to the collection of users.
I quite like the looks of the Surefire brand but they are expensive in comparison to some of the competition, so I
think I might buy from a different company, perhaps 4sevens aa.  It would make a pretty good edc.   :)
