Alright, well, after my experiences with a Flik, I was convinced to try some other current Gerber MTs. Wound up with an MP400 (actually found a place locally that carried 'em for a decent price).
Initial impressions - not bad. Okay, little awkward to get the tools out, but the plier head was nice and solid, and after some judicious use of some teflon tape I got rid of the wiggle in the plier head. Pretty comfortable. Like the clip-point blade much, much better than the wharncliffe.
Went out and did some gardening with it, nice pliers, decent jaws. Didn't like the scissors that much.
All in all, not bad.
And then, this morning. Was using the pliers to re-bend a hanging plant and... snap. Broke one of the lock covers right off, and lost it through the floor of my balcony.
Off to Gerber then, hopefully I'll get it back in a month or so.
Maybe I have some some sort of incompatibility with Gerber MTs or something, I just don't know any more.
