Rex, just focus on your exams for now. There is nothing else you can do, so you may as well make the best of it.
My mother had her first stroke during my University exam times. I don't recall writing the exam to this day, but I do remember doing very well on it afterwards. The mind works in weird ways under duress.
You will be home soon enough, and it sounds like he is well taken care of for now.

I hop on here to take a quick breather in studying, and then my mind wanders. He's in pre-op right now, if they're sticking to the schedule, so I'm hoping he'll be home when I make it back around 1 am tonight.

He's out of surgery now, though still dozing; the surgeon said that it went better than he was expecting. He has quite a few plates, pins, and rods, according to mum, and more external hardware on one wrist, though it'll eventually come off.
Will update tomorrow, when I get back home - I'm not going to get home until about one tonight, anyway, and I'm definitely not planning on logging on right when I get home. ^^;

Like I told Chako, I'm back home now, and have a couple hours before mum goes into work, so I can run some errands I need to run, whether for myself, or to get groceries in general.
It'll take him a week or two to learn how to "cheat" with his casts, just like it takes a kid a bit of time to figure out how to safely eat popcorn or fruit with braces on. As of now, he can't really feed himself, yet alone anything else that requires dexterity, but it should improve soon. As of last night, his left wrist was still numb from anesthesia, since that was the one with the worse break - and the external hardware, I believe - but I've not heard him discuss it yet, as of today.
Will inform with updates as time progresses; he was still rather surprised at having a net of people praying and thinking about him from across the world, so thank you once again, everyone. Happy early Thanksgiving/Turkey Day. I would provide pictures that mum took of before and after shots, but I think they'd get the same reaction as Chako's knee.
On that note: how is your knee, Chako, and are you healing nicely in general? I kinda have been forgetting to ask. :/

Dunc: Actually, he already is; he was at a surgery clinic yesterday for roughly twelve hours before coming home; except for that stint, and the initial hospital stay from 7 PM Friday to around 7 PM Sunday, he's been home the rest of the time.
Ducktape: I'll be feeding him lunch after mum goes into work; as far as I know, we're not heading down to my grandmum's for Thanksgiving, but we don't yet know if we're staying in, or if we'll be treated to dinner by one of dad's friends, who threw that out as a possibility.

Well, as a further update, his back is giving him the usual problems now; he'll need to go to the chiropractor next week. :/

Here's to a fast recovery mate.
Thanksgiving may be a bit rough for your dad but he'll surely be much better during the Christmas holidays. Godspeed Saz's dad!

His doctor visit went well today; they took x-rays, removed both casts and put ACE bandages on his wrists now - one on his right, two on his left; he only has four pins in his left wrist, it turns out; he has another couple x-rays next week, and he starts physical therapy this Wednesday.
