The MP400 Compact. It was the first Gerber I owned. Light weight and very useful for it's size.

There's so many to choose from it's hard to say without knowing what you'll be using it for.

On the compact side, you have:

Octane - limited tool selection but very thin and the part serrated knife blade is one of the best Gerber has done IMO.
MP400 - smaller version of the 600 with scissors
MP450 - same as the 400 but with a file instead of scissors

On the full-size side:

Diesel - the most comprehensive tool selection with one possible drawback: 2d Phillips driver
MP600 - all the basic tools you need in a needlenose and bluntnose

Any of the above is excellent, just a matter of what you're using it for.  I'd view pics of each before deciding  :tu:

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps.  As for pics I've been looking at Chako's round-up here:
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,13557.msg255409.html#msg255409

The Octane looks nice but as a leftie (handed that is  ;)) the OHO is kinda in the wrong place.  The 400 only seems to come with a combo edge blade that I'm really not that keen on (though perhaps not a deal breaker).

The basic MP600 seems to be the most appealing to me ATM.

You can't go wrong with the MP600, and just so you know, that is available with and without replaceable tungsten carbide cutters (the triangular ones that can be rotated).

MP 600 blunt nose are my favorite Gerber. My first MT was a Gerber Multi-Lock BO BN and I still like the BN pliers.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.
