I know CR123s are good, but not I've not reached that point yet.

I'm really enjoying my AA lights and have a couple more in the mail.  I've got a few
cr/rcr lights and they probably will end up getting either other drop in's or traded
away eventually.

4 x Fenix E01 - Energizer Lithium AAA
1 x Peak Matterhorn - Energizer Lithium AAA
2 x Energizer 1 Watt AA - Energizer Lithium AA
1 x Victorinox (Inova?) 2AA - Energizer Lithium AA

123s are just too $ and too hard to source locally for me, so I stick with AAA/AA.

I've tried CR123 lights many times, but I always go back to AA format.  I prefer rechargeable cells on a day-to-day basis, and I find that the AA form factor just works best in that case.  You have your choice of running 14500 (which have better capacity than RCR123) or NiMH.  Lithium AAs are an option (though a more expensive option than CR123) and alkaline AA can be used in a pinch.  Many AA lights will run on AAA also in a pinch.

EDC: 1xAA light such as NiteCore D10, Peak Pacific, Quark MiNi AA.  I power these with 14500 Li-Ions.  I carry an Arc AAA on paracord around my neck w/Energizer L92.

Laptop Bag: 2xAA 4Sevens Quark Tactical running Eneloops.  The bag also carries backup Eneloops for this light and EDC light.

BOB: Gerber Infinity Ultras (1 red, 1white), loaded w/Energizer L91.  Streamlight Polypro Lux loaded w/Energizer L91.  Backup alkalines available in the bag.

Vehicle: Zebralight H50 loaded w/Energizer L91.  L91 backup cells.

At home: 4Sevens Quark Tactical, Novatac 120P, Fenix TK30, each loaded w/18650 Li-Ions.  There are some other lights ready to use around the house, but most of them are AA or can run on AA w/adapters.

The variety of lights and battery config's they have I'm sure some of their docking
stations look pretty impressive? 
I think I'm going to keep the power side of things fairly simple and I'm done
buying Surefire's for awhile.
For the record I love the quality of build on their lights, the knurling on my 8ax
commander is amazing.  But on the 6P side of things I hate the 60PL LED's, the
tint is awful.

Some of them do, but you really can do just about anything with a hobby charger and a good multi-channel NiMH AA charger.

I charge my Li-Ions much more frequently than NiMH, and use a simple $30 Turnigy Accucel-6 hobby charger.

This transition/realization happened over a last 2 1/2 year period (lots of money wasted in this experiment ).

I initially started out with AA lights then added AAA lights.

Then I dabbled in CR123A multi-cell lights and quickly moved to 16340/RCR123. After that came 17670 and 18650 cells.

The 16340/RCR123 batteries were sold off, as were half of my 18650 cells.  I only have two 17670 and two 18650 cells left now. 

I've sold off some of my 18650 lights and most of the remaining ones sit idle.

The 17670 cells are only used in my Surefire G2 and 6P (both of which get very little use these days) and the 18650 cells are used in my wife's lights.

Now all I use is single cell CR123A lights, single or multi-cell AA and single cell AAA lights.

I use Eneloops or Duraloops in my AA & AAA lights and Energizer L91 cells for any lights assigned cold/hot weather duty (i.e. Car lights).
I like the simplicity of NiMh cells.  Just put them in the charger and let them do their thing.

All my EDC's are single cell CR123's , I have one AA ( strictly a backup ) and my faithfull ARC . I just don't seem to be able to make friends with AA's or AAA's . I get my CR123's pretty cheap and get good runtimes . My Novatac is only on it's second battery in over a year , works out to about 4 bucks a year .

I like the CR123 cell. I bought my first quality flashlight in the early 80's. It was a Tekna Splash-Lite. I carried just that for a decade or so. In the 90's I bought a Laser Products 3P at a police supply store and carried both lights until 2008.
Each light required a single CR123.  Led lights have evolved so far, so fast, that my old carry lights are laughable now. But at the time, it was amazing to me to see such illumination coming from lights that were that small. The CR123 made things tiny  in relation to what was available in portable lighting at the time. During those times a flashlight was usually a large, multi "D" or "C" cell device. Just incredible what a single AAA cell can permit now.

My favorite light is my Fenix P1D  1XCR123.  It's a workhorse

Also have Fenix LD01 1XAAA Good, not great ergos

Maratac 1XAAA  Really like this keychain light. A little weak for farm use, but in the house, it's excellent.

Maratac 1XAA  Don't really use it much

Olight M21 1X18650 or 2XCR123  LOVE this light, but don't need that much power very often.

If the P1D remembered the last mode used, it would be nearly perfect.

I have a PD20 also,  but somehow I'm more comfortable with twistie over clickie for pocket carry.

First time to see a Muyshondt light, Tabasco. I googled about it and...man! it's an expensive little light!



I first found out about the light at a trade show and a vendor showed me the Muyshondt website.The price has actually dropped since its introduction a few years ago, it wasn't completely out of range of some of the Surefire lights I was considering at that time. I'm so happy with it's construction and performance that I feel it was worth the coin. It should keep me away from the illumination shop counter for many years to come    . Somewhat sturdy little tool too.

I like CR lights.   My favorite is My Quark Mini CR2.   Most days its hanging around my neck on some paracord.  Also usually have a Quark Mini AA with a 14500 in it  in the side pocket of a LM sheath.

Anyone who has real interest in the Muyshondt design needs to do a little research on Larry, the originator of the design.

All lights of this design, such as the Firefly, the CR2 Ion and Muyshondt owe it to Larry.

Mr. Whippy- that sounds like a nice Fenix collection. There is a gun store near me that has a modest stock of Surefire and Fenix products. The P1D is a very nice looking light. But the management won't let anyone fire up the display models
