think i finally fixed my computer.

Think i finally found the gremlin plaguing my cpu. Since i built my quad core back in feb. it has had a glitch..blue screen memory dump error everytime i'd cut it on. It started really acting up today so i yanked everything out and rebuilt it. I stuck some corsair 800 MHz memory in there and re-imaged my hard drives. I also replaced all my sata cables with higher end ones we carry at work.

something worked as no problems so far :tu:

i'll give it a few days before i declare victory.

Good for you! I hate it when PC's act up for no apparent reason.

I also have a weird bug living somewhere in my computer, I'm guessing it's the sata cables that don't sit snugly in the motherboard.

still up and running since 6pm last night. :D

No blue screen of death, no memory dumps, no ATI stopped working replies.

I got a semi brand new pata 320g drive i'm about to turn into an external hard drive for my video files.

Sounds like you had some bad RAM. Glad you got it fixed.

bad ram can cripple a good computer, and sometimes windows will run just fine with bad ram...

ubuntu live CD's are always handy to run memtest... helps!

+1!  Memtest is the first thing I grab when experiencing unexplainable BSODs.
