Mini Suspension?
on: November 05, 2010, 05:51:11 PM
I was at Walmart yesterday they had something new a two pack Mini Suspension set for 17.00. One plier based and one scissor based. Has anyone seen these before? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gerber-Mini-Suspension-2pk/15111270

I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

Looks just like a clutch and shortcut with different skin, same deal with all the suspension clones?

I thought they were going to stop doing that garbage and actually release new multis...

I saw one on Ebay a while back but it was listed as a Clutch. For $17.00 I would get it.

Probably just Wal-Mart leveraging it's 432 kilogram gorilla weight to get one more doodad on the shelves before the holiday buying rush.  They're cute, and probably better tools than the actual Suspension :P
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

Those turned out to be done at request of certain retailers (their "exclusive" item), maybe these are the same.

That Clutch has been around for some time:

I've had one for a couple of years now- I got it with a Resolve in a "special" boxed set.

I found them in the Smokey Mountain Knife Works catalog.  Not just WalMart.

A co-worker got me a set of these for Christmas.  They fit perfectly in the watch pocket of my jeans which is where I carry most small tools.  So far they seem pretty well made.

I got a set as well. :salute:

It must be that Gerber had a bunch of Clutch and Shortcut parts leftover (when they switched to the Vise and Splice) so they slapped some new scales on the handles and changed the name to "Mini Suspension"
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I've always been a fan of the Clutch, and preferred it over the Squirt series from Leatherman.  Plus, Canadian Tire regularly had them for $10/each, so just about everyone I know has one now!

I gave my dad one, it's now his regular hiking MT.  In fact since he doesn't fish while he hikes any more, it's all he brings.

The Clutch also has one of the best nail files to be found on any keychain tool.  In fact, the only one I think is better is the one found on 63mm Wenger models.

I did notice though that the scissors tool is thicker and heavier than the plier tool for some reason.
