Hello from Greece
on: January 12, 2011, 05:59:46 PM
Hello everybody!

Just joined this place, and this my... 2nd post! I already replied to a thread (actually that was the first reason I joined).

The last hour I've been lurking in the mod-squad and I keep notes for my Wave, got it a few days ago and I carry it with me ever since. It proved to be quite usefull. I'm serving my country at the moment and I don't have the ability to carry my tools with me, so the Wave with its bit-kit is an excellent partner (plus it is a great knife to peel of fruits after I get the job done).

Sadly I am not good with modding, unless it has to do with computers and software (!), I will have to find other ways to offer back to the community.

I'll see you around!
Bill

G'day & welcome Bill  :D :D.

Glade you like your Wave mate. You may like one of the Victorinox cybertools  or a paladin PT540 if you like fiddling with computers. The Paladin would be pretty over the top for the average PC break down though  :D :D :D, its HUGE  :D :D

thanks Multimat, I'll check them out

truth is that when I decided to buy something i went straight to Leatherman without knowing that there are other options, Wave seemed fine and i got it.
I ordered it from ebay, sadly leathermans in Greece have twice the price they have in the US (wave = 157us$, bit-kit = 40us$ in Greece, I wonder why....)

I also have a small swiss army knife, a Victorinox one that I don't know its model Compact. Had it since 1998. A wonderfull tool I must say, but not as tough as the Wave!

To keep it short, I never thought of something else, and I already had the small victorinox for special cases.

Up to now I really like the wave, but what I like even more is the bit-kit!!
I also saw evils posts and I'm now intrigued to create some long-bits and an awl. I don't want to use the knife every time I need to open a hole to something like I do now.

ps: what is missing on the wave (that is available on my victorinox) is the straight pin, super usefull το remove splinters

Welcome to MTO :D

How about attaching a safety pin to a multitool lanyard or something else you always carry?
That would fix you up for a pin when you need it.

I was thinking for a safety pin but I'll propably attach it to the sheath. There might be times that I won't be carrying the sheath, but your idea will do the trick for 99% of the time!
