I just wanted to give an update: the rods and pins have been removed and he's only wearing two soft, removable compression wraps now. Likewise, he can drive, too.
Aside from that, the ice today has kicked my butt, I fell twice, dented my Klean Kanteen, and have injured my right shoulder/arm/elbow. I'm fine, just stiff, in pain, and lacking major grip in my hand without pain.
I love snow; I hate ice.

Glad to hear your father's on the mend.
Did you get him the helmet
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

You guys have the rubber things with ice cleats that you can strap on your shoes? Works great on ice.

Well that is good news about your father. I am sure he was/is climbing the walls to do things.
