NIB Mauser....
on: January 26, 2011, 05:29:39 AM
NIB Mauser.....with a few pics with a used one I got last year...I always wanted one NIB, thank you Felinevet!!  It is SWEET!!!

The booklet it came with is in the following languages: German, English, Dutch, Afrikaans (I believe), Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic.   No mentioned is made of Victorinox as the maker or warranty holder at all.

It is a shame they do not make it anymore.  It is a BEAST!!!!

:tu:  I agree, the Mauser certainly is a beast.  In fact, the only other Victorinox that has that feel to me is the Safari Hunter.

My NIB Mauser has a sheet of paper that you don't show in your pictures, in addition to the Mauser booklet.  This paper might have been subject to not being put in the box at the factory, or lost later.  It's also a possibility that mine was added from another knife box at some point, and is not actually supposed to be there:

(sorry about the blur)

That's nice!  Have you ever seen the Walther version?  Same knife but with black handles and a black box, marked Walther instead of Mauser on the handle.

Nice knife. Were these knives sold by Mauser, or were they included with the purchase of certain Mauser rifles? I have 4 different Mauser military rifles in my collection (91 Argentine, 93 Spanish, Kar 98, and Argentine model 1909 carbine), and think this knife would make for an interesting addition to that collection, if I can ever find one!
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

I have never seen in person the Walther knife similar to this....would be nice to have as the wife has a (U.S. made, due to 1968 Gun Control Act) Walther PPK stainless pistol in .380 ACP/9mm Kurz and I have a Walther P-22 pistol.

This knife came out in the 1980's, so obviously, it is too new to technically go with any of the rifles Peter Paul Mauser introduced in the 1890's (M1891, M1895, M1898, etc).  But, it would be fun to have.

What I NEED to do is make a pic of it along with the GAK (newer one) and Trooper (non-marked older GAK), laying beside my German-made HK-91 battle rifle and HK USP Tactical .45 ACP pistol.   On the HK website, one can get black scaled with red HK logo Traveller and One Hand Trekker SAKs.   I can also go to the local gunshop and get HK marked and marketed Benchmade tactical folders, OHO and automatic....however, the GAK and the Mauser would be IMHO correct for the HK-91 as the HK-91, the civilian version of the HK G-3 battle rifle, was replaced from Bundeswehr service by the G-36 assault rifle in circa 1997.

There were 25,000 of them made by Victorinox as private companion pieces for owners of the Mauser rifle. Victorinox also made pieces for for Brookstone.

The HK G-3 is still the main service riffle for most units of the army here in Greece. They were built under license by a Greek state defence contractor. Lately plans were made for a switch to the G-36, however this didn't proceed either due to financial issues and the army shifting priorities or because there is some doubt concerning the 5.56mm caliber or for both as some rumours say. Besides, to my knowledge there are still plenty of them in brand new condition boxed as spares and it is still a good riffle for a mass conscription army and durable. Various special forces units have been issued M16s - supposedly to carry more ammo (?). Sadly, possession of riffles is not allowed for civilians for any reason and the only way to really have any short of a G-3 is to be part of the national guard active in some areas. I will be doing military service soon and I will be having the G-3 as my father did many years ago, I believe when they were first issued, since he also trained with the FN-FAL and the M1 Garand if I remembered correctly at the beginning of his service which was 28 months.

enjoy your mauser, it is a very fine knife as all the 108mm series.

I thought the numbers were more like 10 times that, 250,000 for the Mauser.

I have heard both numbers but I wrote to Victorinox a couple of years ago and they said 25,000. So I don't know.
