Countycomm using a different OEM?

Well, if you hang around this sub-board at all you probably know that Countycomm uses a lot of modified ITP lights for their stuff.

This one is new, however:  http://www.countycomm.com/aaatactical.html

Kind of ridiculous looking, yes, but it seems to be a downsized version of this light: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/mr-lite-j2-cree-r2-led-modes-special-valentine-day-edition-mr-lite-him-aa14500-p-5026

Same looks, same exact design, just downsized for AAA instead of AA.

Now I actually like Mr Lite as I have a KC-05 on my keychain right now, but I would honestly hesitate to put them on the level of ITP/Olight.  Odd choice if you ask me.

Didn't Countrycomm come out with a non-iTP AA light as well?

Yup here it is:

Looks to be the same form as the Mr Lite AA to me.

I think that's the first time I've seen a AAA-cell light referred to as "tactical".

Quote from: countycomm
Press the thumb switch to turn the light on High mode. Press once more for low mode. Press again to turn the light off.

That doesn't sound like tactical operation to me.

I'll be interested to hear what folks over on CPF think of this little guy, I actually quite like it's looks.  Luckily (?) I can't buy from Countycomm so I'll have to see what others think of it first. :)

Good catch, didn't even see that one before.  I know Mr Lite does custom stuff (they did the custom J4 for budgetlightforum) but it kind of surprised me anyways.

What makes it a step down?

I love my Maratac AAA/iTP twistie, but I don't see what the down side of this new light is... ???

I don't really know for the AAA one, but the old "Maratac" AA light (the 9290) was a iTP C7T. The C7T has infinite modes, and what I consider the best UI of any light under $40.
