Kershaw Scallion Question
on: February 19, 2011, 02:10:33 AM
Hey all,
Today I bought an all-black Kershaw Scallion to replace one I "lost" (forgot it was in my pocket going to a game at The Rock on Wednesday). It's a liner lock, my old one was a frame lock.  The new one has three small holes just under the spine of the blade, and "KERSHAW" printed in large letters in the left scale (sorry, no camera, no pics. Tickets cost money!)  My old Scallion looked nothing like this. Is this just a difference between the frame vs. liner locks, or did I end up with a totally different knife altogether?

There are about 20 different models of the Scallion, including a few with a black polyimide handle with a line lock rather than the solid aluminium handle with a frame lock.  You likely just got a different model of the Scallion than you had before.

Actually, scratch that - I think you may have bought a black Kershaw Baby Boa instead.  Where's the safety lock on the knife - is it buy the pivot or at the end of the handle?

The safety is at the end of the handle. It's got the same blade profile as my other Scallion. Interestingly, it's a liner lock but with aluminum handles, not the polyamide. Whatever it is, it's going to work with me tomorrow (but not to any hockey games!).
