Home made suspension clip
on: February 28, 2011, 02:28:24 AM
I was using a small carabiner to hang keychain off my pocket, but it doesn't work with jeans well as the gate sometimes get stuck on the inside fabric flap on pocket rim.

So I finally got around to make some clips. Dollar store steak knife, propane torch, belt sander, drill press, dremel and some elbow grease got me these. Not pretty like the commercial titanium ones, but does the job. Initially they had a brushed finish, but stands out too much so I reheated them and left the finish as is, they are more subtle against dark fabric now.

Quarter included for size reference.

I use a Nite Ize S-Biner as a "dangler," but it has the same problem.  However, there is an advantage to "getting stuck" on the pocket rim in that it is less likely to fall off by accident.

Good work on the homebrew clips.

I can see why you went with the dark finish.  Very practical  :salute:

Thanks, I may try make another smaller one, to be less visible.

You can adjust how tight the clip is, so it'll grab onto the thicker edge on your pocket and won't simply fall out.

Strange, imageshack doesn't work in Israel? Try this one.

Maybe it's a cache problem or what not...
