Scrapyard's next release, a Necker/Skelly!
on: October 19, 2010, 11:55:06 AM
The "Scrapivore"

Steel: SR-101 58-60 RC
Blade: 2 3/4" Long
Overall Length: 6 1/2"
Thickness: Approx: 1/8"
The coated version will be LESS than $50.00

(what they say):
-Compact design allows for full four finger placement on the handle, even with large hands.

-The finger groove at the front of the handle is sufficiently deep enough to protect the finger
from slipping up and onto the edge.

-The area of the edge in front of this is slightly rounded, offering additional protection
as it keeps the cutting edge spaced away from the index finger.

-The butt is chisel ground for use as a mini prybar and offers an ideal spot for striking a ferrocerium rod.

I'm liking and wanting it! and finally they are doing this :tu:

p.s. remember Scrapyard/Busse blades are lifetime-warranty of the blade (not just you)!

I like that one a lot.  Even better than the warden models both companies have.  And less than 50 bucks seems like a deal.

More likely from the Izula and/or Izula II, which is set for Oct 25 release. This looks like a nice necker, but I've already got my order in the Izula II.

the scrappyvore LE is listed at $69.95 on their website. Given that all the LE seem to be 10-30% more $$ that might give people a ballpark

now i need to spend the rest of the afternoon why i do not WANT a scrapyard dumpster mutt or a swamp rat swampwarden  :twak: :twak: :twak: :twak: :twak: :twak: :twak:  :ahhh

when the Swamp-Warden/Skelly-Warden came out they were 59.95 so I got 2, sage and chocolate and I luv em.

the Original Dumpster Mutt was 69.95! and did they sell.

I also have the very limited, only 50 made "Mod-7" mutt, it's Double-Cut(bead-blasted) with logo and has serrations. Was very hard to get.

Is this meant to be a combat/survival knife?  Because that rockwell hardness is really out of whack, then.

with the pry-bar feature, I'm thinking the hardness is more for that.

Busse is famous for their SuperSteels; INFI and SR101 and SR77, and their heat treatments are suppose to be one of the best, I have a few SR101 blades and their corrosion resistance and strength are like no other.

if it chips or breaks, Busse/SwampRat/Scrapyard replace it for life, not "your" life but the life of the blade, I've always liked that! :salute:

Oh, I understand all that, but when you take your knife outdoors, the one thing that it WILL do above all else is get dull.  It might take longer or shorter depending on the steel, heat treat etc, but it will get dull.  You need to be able to resharpen it.  An HRC 60-62 steel is going to be a major pain in the ass resharpen.

I gotcha ;) and your right, it is important in the field to be able to sharpen.

SR101 is about as easy/hard as any other steel I have sharpened, and it has superior edge holding properties, one of it's strong points.
