Question for canadians.
on: March 03, 2011, 12:25:37 AM
OK for the past week I have been addicted to the Trailer park boys. But I got to ask.. Is this shown on reg. tv? or is it a cable show. I dont think it could make it on tv, but I just had to ask. It is really some funny stuff.

It's on Cable.  It's shown on the Showcase channel which is like the Canadian equivalent to HBO.  Great show, isn't it?  :tu:  IIRC, Def met and got a pic with Ricky, Julian and Bubbles since the show was filmed in his neck of the woods.

This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

Season 3-5 are my favourites.  I haven't seen the two full-length movies yet but I hear the first one wasn't so good while the second one ("Countdown to Liquor Day") was more faithful to the show.

That's one of my favourite episodes.  That, plus the episode with the first appearance of Conky (Season 4).

I've met them at the airport, I bumped into them at Jack Astors, I've had to detour around filming locations when they've closed off streets and I almost bought a house right across from where Sunnyvale is.

This is a small city and the Boys are pretty well known around here.

It's on the other side of the city from where I am now, but it's not a big city, so we can be there in about 15-20 minutes from my place!  :D

Would anyone down there know who you were?

Sad news though- Bubbles' Mansion, a Fine Eatery and Drinkery was closed down last year.  Apparently the boys didn't have enough clout to keep a downtown bar open.

I've never seen a Conky puppet for sale, so I think that's out.  As for the actors, not only are they all from here, but they film all around here.  I can show you all the places they've shown in the shows.  One of the big kicks for me watching that show is seeing all the places around town I recognize.  I don't know if you've seen it or not, but the one where Ricky becomes a security guard is Penhorn Mall, and it's between the mall and the highway where Bubbles was throwing carts to make more work for himself.

The parking meters they were backing over in the first movie was in downtown Dartmouth, where Whoey and I used to go when we didn't feel like going to high school, and the theatre they robbed to get the big thing of change (the big dirty) was the Cineplex in Bayers Lake, where I most recently saw Tron 3D.  The bank machine they knocked over in the beginning of the movie was in the parking lot where Whoey's sister used to work, and the scene where they were being chased by the helicopter was along Hwy 7, where I got my Jeep stuck for the first tim.

I've never seen a full-size Conky puppet for sale before but when Season 4 was first released on DVD, there was a special edition of the DVD that came with a little Conky finger puppet.  You can probably find it on eBay maybe.

In case anyone isn't familiar with the Trailer Park Boys:

I don't think there's any bad language in this one, but then there's very little of their stuff without bad language, so viewer discretion is advised.

Bubbles, by the way, aka Mike Smith writes music for big budget Hollywood films when he's not repairing shopping carts and looking after the kitties.
