LM Kick Pocket Clip Question
on: October 21, 2006, 07:00:16 PM
Does anyone have a pocket clip on a Kick?

The photos of the clip on the LM and SMKW sites show what looks a lot like the clip from a SideClip.

The Kick is assembled with the standard LM bolts (unlike the security Torx on the SideClip) and I was wondering how the clip would be attached.

The reason for asking is that I am considering a Mod involving moving the file from a PST 2 and adding a pocket clip to a PST.

On of the sucurity bolts is left open where you can screw the new pocket clip in.  I don't have time to take a pic of my Kick but I found this one online.

Spork- in the Kick Review here on Multitool.org there are a couple of decent pics showing the threaded screwhole in the rivet.  I often wondered what the hole was for since I didn't know there was a clip available.

Sort of a chicken and egg problem to the one you are having!  You are wondering how the clip attaches, I was wondering what the hole was for!

Hmmm...am I the chicken or the egg? :P

The only concern I have after seeing the additional photos is the hole might be larger on the Kick clip...so it would go around the stud.

The Mod would only require filing a notch in the same location as on the Sideclip if things go as planned.

Any hints as to what this mod is, or do we have to wait and see?

Adding the clip to a PST and swapping the file for the diamond coated one from a PST2...maybe swapping out the hardware for button head Torx screws like on the Sideclip.

Leatherman pocket clips for your Kick are an available accessory. Unfortunately, there are no spare blades or other implements available for sale. You have to rob spares from a sacrificial tool.

(Too bad everyone else is not like SOG)  :P
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools
