I always wondered if you could make a 91mm with scissors. It would be my perfect knife to have a Farmer with scissors. What model SAK are the scissors sourced from and is it a straight swap or do you need to make a custom back spring, if so what material for the spring? I gotta get one of these for sure. I had always been put off doing DIY as even though im good at tool work (im a mechanic & restorer) i just dont feel i would be able to do a neat job of the peening and get them to look nice like Victorinox does.

The scissors are from a standard 91mm SAK as is the backspring.  You just need to drill out the spring and scissors to 3mm.  You also can't use the hook on the back so it does look a little strange.  Note, you actually can't use the old springs, it has to be one that takes the hook.

Because they are hand peened I can't get them to look factory either.  Its one reason I don't do coloured alox any more, grazes to the silver scales don't look too bad but on coloured they look awful.  So the finish isn't perfect by a long stretch and unless I can get an orbital peener (price is extreme) they never will be.  I think you can do a good enough job by hand to make something that looks acceptable though and its worth it to get the tools you want.

Have a go... you know you want to ;)

Ahh yes my mistake, i ment 93mm with scissors!

Well the photos of the peening in this thread looked good to me, so good i thought they must of been machine done.

I would really love a inline phillips in a 93mm or 84mm Alox. Ive seen it on 84mm Alox but im not sure how the guy did it.
