Serrations Cut Into SAK Blade?
on: March 24, 2011, 04:15:28 AM
Is there anyone who has recommendations for a knifemaker that can cut serrations into a small SAK blade?  I'd like to send in a Deluxe Tinker to have the small blade get Spyderco-like serrations cut into it.  I might possibly do the same to the small blade on a Secretary.  Any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea which is also of interest to me. I wish you could get serated blades on 91mm saks. if you find someone to do it please report back here. :tu:

There is a knife shop in my area and the owner is also a professional knife sharpener. Once I had an old GAK with a dent in the blade. That was a good reason for making serrations in this part of the blade. He did a very good job.
This is his homepage:

If Germany is not too far for you this is a good address  :tu: .

Find yourself one of these serrated spartans.

Or maybe something like this? There are a couple different models with this blade.

This is a special order from the factory which proves Victorinox does and can do these smaller blades.

If you are going to do it yourself, you could use a chain saw file, I've done something similiar on a few other knives. It doesn't take much, after the first five, six passes, check it every other stroke!

I've thought about doing this myself once or twice. I reckon I'd do a crap job of it though. That german guy looks like he does awesome work.

Would the small blade on a 91mm SAK be big enough for a serrated blade? Would be hard to use as a rescue blade, could be good for other uses though.

I find them on ebay once in awhile but you probably should check with one of the regular sellers here like Neil maybe.

You can still get them new but only as part of a Victorinox picnic set with cutlery.  Makes it expensive.  Much better to add your own serrations :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
