Speaking of movies...
on: November 07, 2007, 11:44:17 PM
I know mentioning this guy's name is usually a good way to piss people off, one way or another, but I just finished watching that new Micheal Moore movie, Sicko, and all I can say is WOW.

I always thought that he was the worst thing to ever happen to rational thought as he took many of what I consider to be rational opinions, and ran them so far into the ground that no one could take him seriously, and worse, provided naysayers with many valid points against the rational thoughts in the first place.  I guess I could still say that because this one was just as preachy as the others I'd seen, but it's pretty hard to argue the point of the movie whether you agree or not.

And, since I used to do insurance investigations, I know how far insurance companies will go to avoid payouts, legitimate or otherwise.  I have to say that insurance investigators have a great job because the pay is astronomical.  It's amazing how much insurance companies will pay me so they don't have to pay you!

Like him or hate him, I think Sicko is an important movie to watch.  Turn the sound off when he starts talking though as he does get annoying.

Michael Moore is a Sicko.  I have not seen the movie because I dont want any of my cash to trickle into his pocket in any way shape or form.  From what I have heard he went to Cuba and other countries that offer a "socialized medicine" system and spouts off about how great it is.  He is a freaking traitor to his fellow countrymen.  I say this because if he thinks it is so great to live in other places and believes that the US is so bad than why not go there and live and see how well he likes it when he is "raped" by the tax collector.  The health care system here is definately not perfect.  The real problem is insurance companies which at one time I too worked for.  In Ohio insurance companies are the largest racket going.  I agree that they are willing to pay nearly as much getting out of a situation as just paying the claim.  I am against socialized medicine because I dont want to pay for my neighbors healthcare.  After all, are health insurance companies just going to "go away."  No, they will still accept my premiums while I pay for another guys medical care.  I just dont see it working here in the US.  The housing market is horrible here and if we adopt a tax guzzeling healthcare bill it will only get worse.

I downloaded it, so it didn't cost me a penny, nor will anything get back to him!  :P

He also addresses the points you made.  I am not going to get into the argument about socialized medicine, and it's benefits and drawbacks, but I would suggest you try it sometime.  With my medical history I'd be broke and quite deformed and possibly dead by now without it!

I guess that socialized medicine is not all that bad.  Yes, people do need it, one such person that would have benefited from it was my mother a few years ago.  She did go broke but in my opinion it was the doctors neglegance, greed, or inexperience.  Basically she ended up paying for 3 operations 2 of which were pointless when the 3rd operation would have been all that was necessary if that option was exercised in the beginning.  As for argument for or against it, I think they are interesting from all viewpoints.  The 2008 presidential election here in the US will probally be decided on that issue.
