Verizon's new 4G LTE Network in the Detroit area on an HTC Thunderbolt.

VZW is promising 100+ Mbps by the end of 2011.

NOTE: the upload speeds are skewed until they update the speed test app but download speeds are spot on.

(Upload speeds are realistically about 4-6 Mbps)

Speeds range between 6-30+ Mbps down depending on how far you are from the tower.

Takes a bit of a toll on the battery life @ these speeds but nothing having a spare (or extended) battery on hand can't cure. I'm only getting about 4-6 hrs with heavy 4G use but since I'm never too far from a USB port or car charger it's not too big of a deal. (and IMO totally worth it for the speed!)

It's just hard to believe that over wireless phone networks, that you will be able to pull 100+ Mb/s; that's insane - that's how fast this campus connection is on a good day, though I just did a test, too, and currently I'm pulling 40 Mb/s.  ::)

Holy crap, that's way faster than my land connection. Not even going to mention wireless since it's expensive and slow as hell in Canada. We are the 3rd world country as far as internet/wireless goes.

Unfortunately, the Canadian government's mandate for the wireless carriers is to build fibre optic connections to all the northern settlements rather than build good wireless networks for metropolitan areas.

On the plus side we as Canadians do get to bypass the whole Net Neutrality debate as the Conservative government essentially stepped in and told the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, our version of the FCC) that they had to abandon a decision that would have allowed Bell Telecom to introduce tiered internet services.
