Well here is my Cabela's. It was probably produced between 83 and 84. It has the engraved Cabela's name on it, no lanyard loop,
1 inch ruler, drop point blade, old pat. number, ect... The first batch from 83 did not have the U.S.A. on the plier head and the
blade had leatherman U.S.A. etched on the blade. Smitty44 has one. There is a picture in the pst chron. thread. I have no real story
behind mine. I was searching for deal's on ebay and there it was, ( Cabela's pst, Buy it now, $25.00 ) :o  :D

Thanks for bringing it up again Pacu, and Stack that is a nice looking one you have, about as close to mine that I have seen, don't know when they put the USA on the plier head,or changed the writhing on the blade, but your profile picture has the same writhing on the blade.

The only history on mine is it was bought from the 83 Cabela's Christmas catalog, and was carried in war time, during Desert Storm,I retired it in 96 when I got a new PSTII,and carried that most of the time until Mar this year when my kids found a brand new LM Pulse that is now my EDC,and still love the original design, just wish the Pulse had the original awl in it.

Speaking of Cabela’s, Tim Leatherman will be at the grand opening in Springfield Oregon this weekend, signing tools with his engraver.

Getting Tim to sign one of my early PSTs would be VERY cool  :dd: :dd: :D

I have a etched not engraved PST that was quite rusty, it is in pieces & I stole its file for another PST  ::) ::) :D :D

Cabelas is an outfitters service.  They were the first company, along with Early Winters Catalog, to give Tim Leatherman a chance with the PST.

If you ever come to the States, it's an adventure to be had. Up to 250000 square feet (23225 sq. m.) of manly wonder.

Couple of notes though:
  • If you bring your wife, you may leave with unfulfilled desires.
  • If you don't bring your wife, you will most likely leave with no money.

Oh yah, Cabelas is a manly shopping destination like no other! 8)

Here's some pics of a trip I made to the Michigan store a few years back, in search of an elusive camo Charge:

Sorry, no offense intended, there are indeed many great exceptions to the norm.  :2tu:

I was only trying to convey how, when 90% of the men that walk into that store, loose all sense of reason, and reality. Not unlike a seven year old who walks into Disney World for the first time.
:gimme: :gimme: :gimme:

Women, even when they have a great passion for something, still tend to be rational in the material things. (unless, of course, it's shoes...  ;) )
