New Old Wave and PST Maglight Sheath
on: May 09, 2011, 06:07:52 AM
Backstory: I get paid monthly.

Wiser people would make a budget, stick to it, and save the leftover for things like car services or quarterly bills.

NOT I!

With my bank account freshly engorged with another lump sum, I headed off to buy....well, petrol and a phone cable.

HOWEVER, I was sidetracked into my favourite Surplus store and Pawn shop.

$117 later I am the proud (and slightly ashamed) owner of (I wish my housemate would stop having sex so loudly) a grimy, slightly rusty, but more or less servicable original wave (unfortunately no sheath) and an original PST size leatherman Sheath with the MagLight holster.

For a second hand Wave and an ancient PST accessory, the price was a bit steep, but as always when I come across a rare find I spend more than I am usually willing.

My Aforementioned housemate has the USB cable to my camera, and it doesn't seem like a good time to ask for it, so stay tuned for pics at a later moment!

That only applies to stock purchased by the wholesaler or retailer during the good times.

If I was buying a NEW Multi, by all means, I can get a great deal at the moment. (Just the other day I saw Alox Vic Soldier for $39. Quite a bargain by australian standards. It didn't occur to me at the time to check the date stamp. I'd like to get one with the 3 year olds' birth year)

Unfortunately, buying from Pawn shops, or buying old stock is less affected by the dollar, and crotchety old shop owners are reluctant to haggle.

If it makes you feel better, I got away with $117 down from from $157 though  :D

Pawn shop owners seem to have a strange belief that "genuine" leatherman (or Zippo, or other respected brands) are worth a goddamn fortune, even though they're available at any key-cutting store or camping shop.

If it weren't for rare or discontinued stock, I doubt I'd bother doing business with them.

Yep I have a Vic Soldier to give to my eldest with his birth year & the youngest has both a Vic & Wenger Soldier awaiting a suitable occasion   :D.

Probably should try to find a 98 Wenger for the eldest as well  ::) ::) :D
