Greetings from Greece
on: May 13, 2011, 08:50:14 PM
Hi there

My name is Aris and I'm Greek. I am 43, married, I have a doughter and two dogs (bitches actually).
So I'm living with four lovely females.

I recently discovered this site and I think it's great.

The main reason I joined is my new hobby, the alox.

I'm carrying a SAK from when I was a little boy but only recently I got my first alox. And now I'm hooked.

My favorite is the farmer. No big surprise here, I suppose.

I'm a knife nut and during the years I had hundreds of knives and multitools of almost any kind.

I am not exactly a collector and I like to use my knives.
I am an outdoorsman, fisherman, hiker, bushcrafter, camper and farmer. Maybe that's why I love swiss army knives.
I go nowhere without a SAK  :climber:

And now I'll open a bottle of beer with a red Farmer to celebrate my new membership here!   :drink:

Cheers, Aris  :cheers:

Nice to meet you Aris.   I'm a newbie too, so I look forward to seeing the cool gear that is available in Greece.

Goodmorning and thank you very much for the welcome.

@wvd1979
In Greeve everything is available but colored alox. Good thing is that the knife-laws are not very tight so I can order almost anything from adroad.

@MultiMat
I had many plier based multis during the years. I kept only my 12 years old trusty LM Wave.
The best by far was the old Swiss Tool. A good friend felt in love with it so I gave it to him. Talking about 12 years ago.

Multis are very usuful but I don’t like edc-ing them. I am a knife guy and I prefer SAKs. A SAK is basically a knife isn’t it?

Welcome to the group Aris.

Even though you are an SAK fan and I prefer Leatheman it looks like we both like to use our tools to open beer bottles.   I've never had a Greek beer.  I'll have to head to the store and see if I can find some.

I'm afraid I would advise against it. In Greece there are a couple of large-ish beer manufacturers (Mythos, Alfa, Fix, probably some more) that produce only boring lagers. Other than that, there are quite a few microbreweries scattered around that do produce some great beer but I doubt you'd be able to find them in the "store next door" in the States... :-\
