Saw something interesting on Leathermans website.  If you go to the keychain tools section and download or view the owners/instruction manual the style PS is on the manual as they have a combined the user guide for all of them in one.

A thread on BF has an entry saying the tool is scheduled to be released in June.

Looks TSA passable

(Image removed from quote.)

I wouldn't count on that- the TSA agents have the authority to judge what's a weapon and what isn't.  Even if this passes official legislation, I wouldn't put it past individual agents to go "above and beyond" and citing regulations is only likely to worsen the situation.  While I know many of us prefer to be prepared at all times, I also think if you can't go a few hours without a nail file, you probably shouldn't even consider flying an option when traveling.

Agreed. I've gotten to the point where the only thing I "carry-on" is a magazine and an iPod. Everything else is checked, with anything pocketable of value (MT's, folder, etc...) traveling express mail, so that's it's waiting when I arrive. The no hassle / peace of mind is worth the extra money, and not anymore expensive than an extra checked item would be.

I cut off the knife on an old Micra and have carried it through TSA successfully every time I tried it. I did have one TSA agent try to take it but I asked for her supervisor and politely pointed out it met their guidelines. He let it go.

I may be wrong but I refuse to allow the individual TSA agents to exert authority they really don't have by law. I won't be belligerent but I will and have sent complaints to their supervisors. I work for the federal government and know that one complaint won't matter but many will.

One suggestion that seems to work for me is to show them the tool up front and let them hand inspect it. It seems to make a difference and several agents have thanked me for doing that.

The only reason I would carry this over a PS4 is in a knife restricted environment and for me that's almost always an airport.

It isn't referred, but eventually you're talking on airplane travels between USA states. On international travels that gets much more complicated: some stuff can get along on one side of the trip and not on the other, complains on foreign countries will not have much effect on our situation itself and even the laws might have slightly differences.  A buddy of mine carried one of those 58mm vics -- it passed on local airport departure, but on departure from the other country (don't remember which was it) it got confiscated!

About the tool, it's a nice concept, although it "implies" an external solution for the missing blade. One of those smallish spydercos might do the job. Personally, I'm not much fan of tweezers on multitools neither this "personal care" stuff (e.g. tools for nails).

It's well worth remembering that the TSA rules only apply in the USA.  For example UK rules are pretty simple; nothing sharp or pointy in any way, so absolutely no scissors allowed.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I was referring only to travel within the US. International travel is more problematic. The only thing I've carried is nail clippers with no file. I've had no problems with that but YMMV.

I think it would be a good match with a Rally with the pen/light scales. Not much redundancy, and you get the much better SAK blade and phillips driver.

Really? The SAK blade isn't chisel ground. But whatever works. :)

I don't mind chisel grinds.   :)  But that's not why I disagree. I`m to tired to go in to it at the moment. In the long run it doesn't matter any way   :D   :D

Looks like a neat little tool.  I have a Style CS and it looks like this one also has the torx bolts holding it together.

Anyone have any experience modding a CS?  I'd like to get one of these PS's, take the file out, move the scissors to where the file was, and put the blade from the CS where the scissors are on the PS.

Leatherman should ship that tool configuration! Much better than this version, imho.

From Leatherman:

PRODUCT UPDATE :: Many of you have been asking when the Style PS would be available. It will be up on our site by 7/5 and you will be able to buy using the "Buy Now" feature on the page. While it is not TSA "approved" (nothing can be save a couple locks) it follows ALLLL their rules for carry-on travel: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#4
