Leatherman Surge Pocket clip fix
on: June 09, 2011, 06:16:45 PM
Hey guys. I have a leatherman surge and bought the pocket clip/lanyard ring accessories. What I did to fix the clip moving sideways was i bent the little part by there the lock connects on the clip. That that did was make it a bit tighter. Only issue with that is, as you squeeze the pliers and whatnot, it moves right back to where it was, loose and wobbly. Does anybody have a solution to this other than what i'm trying. It just bothers me how loose the clip is on the tool.

I haven't worked up either the courage or the room on my workbench to attempt this, but I've had this bookmarked for some time [looks like a good fix]:

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,25502.0.html

Btw, I just inquired with LM about this 'problem' [they don't consider it as such...] and here's the reply from last week:

"I have been told by engineers in the past that there is an intentional bit of wiggle in the design of pocket clips so if they get caught on something that there would be a little bit of “give” rather than immediately breaking off and ruining the clip.

I contacted our engineer dept. regarding any plans to change the clip design.  There are none at this time."

At least with the new Surge, LM is putting in a better t-shank saw holder.  I have to say, I'm ready [and HAVE been ready] for that fine item for SOME time now...

Good luck!
