Second best......
on: November 26, 2007, 01:51:34 PM
There have been many topics on here asking "what is your favourite multitool?" or "what is your favourite EDC multitool?" or "what is the best multitool?" and in general we all know what people would regard as their favourite and best.

But what is your second best? And what is it that you like about it?  I just think it would be interesting to find out what else all the swisstool users like and what else all the Leatherman users use.  (And of course the other brands  :)).

Thanks all.

My econd bes EDC tool would be my Leatherman Squirt P-4.  It comes in handy and serves as my primary tool when I am golfing or if I go out on the town.  It is small enough but versitile enough to handle most jobs required of it.  It has a small blade that is more than enough for small tasks.  Dont get me wrong, it is not a tool that I carry when I go to the woods or if I am working on somthing but it handles the "prissy" stuff very well when a full size folder or multitool is too bulky to have in my pocket.

Me second favorite tool is the Charge TTi- my first is the LM Surge! The swisstool would be right up there but its so hard for my large sausage fingers to get at screwdrivers etc. The reason these tools are the best imo is because of the one handed blades- having one handed access to the blades is so important to me. If I am holding a end of rope or securing something I can just flick the knife blade right out.

#1 - PowerLock

#2 I'd say the old Wave...I keep one in my plastic shopping bag I take to work in case I need a diamond file, and as a general backup tool.

I am really looking forward to getting my old Wave back from Leatherman.  I never really did get chance to play with it as it was broken when I got it so have just sent it off straight away.  The more I read about it though the more I think I'm going to like it.

Second best for me is a Leatherman Crunch. My first favorite changes about every month, as I get bored with one tool and want to switch to another. But the Crunch is always second. I could never EDC one though, as I'm always needing needlenose pliers.

It's handy to have the Crunch along as a backup in the truck or toolbox when I need locking pliers.

A Squirt on your keys goes a loooong way when you need needlenose pliers!

True enough. So perhaps a Squirt P4 and a Crunch would make an good EDC combo? I'll have to try that.  :)

I carried that combo for about two weeks and used both with no problems.  I might bring that combo back up when I get my Farmer (so I have a saw and awl with me).
