Merry Chritstmas to you Bro'!  Those ZT's rock!  Right now, I'm in a dilemma.  I'm looking at three different knives, and don't know what to buy. :dunno:  :o :D

As the used Fiskars Excalibur I bought has twisted pliers (as I understand, they're practically pot metal), but overall, I'm very impressed with the design; I've got the Hanwei version of the Excalibur coming. Just over $20 on Amazon.

It's a design not too many people are familiar with, and I feel it is very underrated for what it is. Definitely doesn't feel like a cheap, imported low-end tool and it's got a lot of stuff Gerber can learn from--the way the spring is built into the handle, instead of the scissors/pliers is genius. That could very well have saved the MP1 in my mind.  I think it was the first "Gerber" pliers based tool with an outside opening blade.

@eTripper: when facing such "difficult situation" as yours, my modus operandi is simply "shoot first, think later"  :D, which I would buy all, and may return what I least want later. I do think the SOG Seal XR is a bit on the expensive side. In the $160 price range, the GRN handle does not attract me.

I agree, but as you note, it's my last-choice.  I'm leaning heavily towards the 4 Max.  ???

Finally decided.  Went with the Cold Steel 4 Max, especially since, Amazon dropped the price from $250 UDS to $228.00.  I had to do-it.  Am I nuts, or what?  :o  :facepalm:

Naw, once in hand and after a few days of fondling I find the hunt excitement is gone.  Then I can decide to keep or send back.  Thing is, if you decided to NOT buy, you'd be feeling like you missed that price you were happy with plus that nagging feeling like what if?

Thanks Ws, and Ray!  The first-time, I ever saw a 4 Max priced-under $250 USD.  This is the Italian-version.  Had to jump-on-it!  Can't wait to photograph this one.  I'm a knife-guy, what can I say?  Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.  :cheers:

Damn, now I want a 4 Max.  :rant: From what I see on youtube, the Italian version seems to have better quality than the American. Though I am sure the American costs more on the Bay due to its discontinued status.

I studied every-review, and the consensus was that the Italian-version was totally superior in over-all fit-and-finish.  That 'tri-ad' lock is one of the strongest on-the-market.  Essentially, the 4 Max is the AD-10's larger sibling.  But, I'm sure you're already hip to that.  Probably, the one folder you would-need in an 'End Of Days' scenario.  All drama aside, I had to have-it!   :o  The 4 Max would make an excellent companion to any number of fixed blades:  Becker, TOPs, ESEE, or your ZT's.  When I saw the price dip below $230 USD, I closed-the-deal!

Well next year for me is going to be a year of watching the pennies as I really need to tighten my belt. I have never been a great saver and internet shopping simply because I’m bored has been my downfall. Before the internet I never went shopping for shoppings sake.

So I have allowed myself one last purchase before the new year and just ordered a benchmade bugout 535-1901. It’s a littler fancier looking than I would generally go for but chose it for its cpm20cv steel and g10 scales.

My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.
