So I finally gave in and bought myself a Spirit
on: August 04, 2011, 12:06:12 AM
After a lot of thinking, (and because I just had 2 weeks of "summer vacation" while it was raining cats and dogs all the time  >:(), I ordered myself a Spirit last week, which arrived at the store today  :D.

I must say that I was very surpised by the size of the Spirit, I thought it was a lot more like a Wave, but when clossed it feels like something between the Wave and the Skeletool (my 2 cents  ;)).  But when you open it, it suddenly looks the same size as a wave again, weird ... I think it's because it's such a slim tool, and the sheat is also a perfect fit.

So, here are the pics (and lots of them ;) ).

Cool!  :multi:

The spirit is awesome.  Nice pics too.

I haven't seen that sheath before.  Looks like it has a snap closure rather than velcro?  That would be a good change over the normal sheath, IMO.  Is it leather?

I'm a huge Coulthard fan, he's one of my favorite drivers, along with Mika Hakkinen, Jacques Villeneuve, Kimi Raikkonen, and of course ... the great Colin McRae.

Cool!  :multi:

It's a special sheat that comes with the Spirit "Road Tour", I read somewhere that it's a "rubber" sheat, don't know if this is true.  It does have a snap closure which is one of the reasons why I chose the Road Tour version of the Spirit.

Ah, I see.  I didn't realize the RT used a different sheath.

I spotted that as well. :D  DC is one of the best drivers never to have been Champion (though there are some other very notable names as well).  Can't really come form Scotland and be an F1 fan without supporting DC.  Plus he started a year or two after I caught the F1 bug.

Back to the Spirit, I love the contrast of the smoky grey mirror handles and the polished tools. 8)

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Very nice. A lot of Spirit fans finally wore me down and I got one. I like that it will take a corkscrew, which of course will hold a miniscrewdriver! :D I have the ratchet set without the extension, but no Spirit Plus sheath (to hold the tools) as the retailer (felinevet) did not have one at the time I purchased it. My Leatherman Wave/Charge extension works fine with the ratchet though. ;)

Perhaps if I had the plus sheath, but I still reach more often for my Charge. I like its diamond file for one thing. I am disgruntled that the LM does not have an awl. The Spirit does which is a plus, but when I needed an awl to make a pilot hole in a tight place, the Spirit awl just was not sharp enough. My trusty Vic Farmer rescued the day though!

Enjoy your Spirit!

Wow, you didn't mess around with a "regular" Spirit either, you got a Road Tour one! :o They really are the coolest looking one I think. 8) And I like the pointy knife better than the butter knife too. :)

That's beautiful
Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

I own several Leatherman's, a couple of Gerber's and a standard Vic Spirit.
The Spirit is by far my favorite EDC multi-tool.

:D I must admit the RT and S don't get much use. I could probably ditch the S and not miss it, but I wouldn't want to lose the RT. Way too nice. The other two do get a fair bit of use though  ;)

My RT is for drooling purpose only, and one of the others is also nicely tucked away in it's box , but the other two are for EDC use  ;).
