I emptied my pocket change when I got home today, and as always took a quick look through it. Occasionally some neat old coins turn up. I have a decent collection of Lincoln Cents or "wheat pennies", and a complete of silver dimes from 1946 to 1964, all mint marks, which I managed to acquire over the course of many years of looking. I even have a complete set of silver nickels, which were only minted from the middle of 1942 until 1945. The copper center of the US nickel was replaced by silver so the copper could be used in war production. Those are actually pretty common because so few people know of them (so forget what I just typed

). Today, though, I found this neat little surprise! It's a 1900 US One Cent piece, known as an "Indian Head penny". These were minted from 1859 to 1909, and were replaced by the Lincoln Cent, the obverse (front) of which is still used. This one is a bit beat up, but what do you expect for something that's been floating around for 111 years!
