Sideclip:OK I get it now!
on: September 06, 2011, 01:46:16 PM
I was somewhat mysitified by the clut following for the Sideclip. To look at it kinda just looked like a PSTlite.I guess my MiniTool should have been a warning.I'd been kicking arround the idea of buying a NIB Sideclip, but talked myself out of it as being something of a waste on time and money.

In one of those serendipidous twists of fate,I've ended up trading a Mini(not the BO one its mine  >:D) with 50ft-trad.

Man have I ever changed my mind!Got it on Monday,it went off with me for lunch with 2 rather nice French ladies.I actually forgot it was in my pocket!Even later when I changed in to a pair of track suit pants,it clipped into the pocket without dragging the pants.

I cant really explain why,but it has a lovely feel to it.Feels good in the hand, reminds me more of a Wave when opened than a PST.I think I may have a new favourite LM!

and before anyone complains, heres the porn :D

pictures or it didn't happen!   >:D

Good sideclip; I am surprised Vauxhall, or any car maker, would give out something so expensive. Usually they give out lighters or cheap Chinese multitools / knives.

They're not necessarily giving them away.. Mercedes and many others are selling alot of branded stuff..  :)

and I usually buy them   :D

The question is, does a Vauxhall badge make the sideclip more valuable/collectable or less  ???

That is a nice slim tool.
If only one of the flat drivers was replaced with an awl or scissors :D

Thanks! "Vauxhall" was really familiar to me but I couldn't remember where or how I know that name.  When I saw your post, I remembered that it's a car brand.

I'm embarrassed to say I think that this might actually be a Leatherman that I've never even held. :-[  I suspect I've always looked on it as a PST with bits missing and a pocket clip I wouldn't use.  I do remember seeing them come out in the shops and thinking "they don't even come with a sheath"! ::)

I think someone will have to bring one to the next meet-up and try and chance my mind. :D

I don't have one any more but can confirm that it is a tool that feels very good in hand.  Its not just a limited PST :D
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I much prefer the classic Leathermen somehow, and if the Sideclip had a diamond file it would just be purrfect.

Glad it's gone to a loving home kirk  :tu: :D :D

For me it was a good tool - but the wrong tool - it just didn't meet my needs. I was tempted to mod it for a while but it seemed far more humane to let someone else have it who would get use and pleasure out of it as it was meant to be used. Really glad I did too - not just because you're so happy with it, but also because I got a Mini out of the deal >:D :D :D I'm just as happy with that as you are with this  :salute:

@Zed:Your not wrong about the scissors, but it was a good excuse for the Alox Companion!

@50ft-trad:As much as my Wave is still my ultimate go-ti MT,its a real toss up between the Sideclip, and the BO Mini as to which is the more pleasureable to use! Both now see 'off duty'use, just depends on if it feels like a SAK or a LM day which gets carried!

@Neil:Your right. It feels far more complete than the PST despite the lower tool count. It just has a better 'wa'
