I wish they would make a few versions....one with scissors instead of the SE blade, or a knifeless version.

Unfortunately LM isn't known for making different tool loadouts.  They change handle scales and plier heads and finishes on all models, but the dang tool loadout is always the same.  I wish they would take a cue from the other big 4 companies and at least offer a few different layouts, but I won't hold my breath.  I have been wishing they would go the way of SOG for a long time, and make their tools interchangeable by the user without voiding the warranty.  Heck, SOG even lets you change out your Plier heads!

I took apart my sideclip once to clean it and buggered a fastener so I sent it to them with a repair request and a request for a bill so I could pay them but they didn't charge me.  Great service and good on them for doing it but I doubt it's something they would advertise doing that they would get flooded with mods gone bad.  I personally won't send LM a tool I KNOW was damaged through neglect or modification, but not everyone is like that.

Lets be a little fair to LM; they did two versions of the Fuse (standard and knifeless), and essentially two versions of the Charge (scissors or second bit driver), two versions of the PST, multiple versions of the Squirt etc.

That said they do nothing like the numerous versions of the MP600 that Gerber have produced over the years, now that would be nice to see. :tu:

True, I did omit the Fuse, Charge, and PST.     My claim seems a bit flimsy after that admission.   :D

But they truthfully don't do much else.  You can't get a Blast that has an awl, or a serrated blade, until the REBAR comes out that is.  So folks that like the traditional style tool in a mid size weight have been stuck without an awl or serrated bladefor years.  Doesn't seem like a deal breaker but that exact issue coupled with a few of LM's QC hiccups is what caused me to branch out to other companies.  While that is great for me personally, Leatherman lost money because I bought other brands for a while.  All that aside, I am about positive the REBAR will be my new EDC and will remain so for years, so I still a big Leatherman fan, I was just pointing out my viewpoint.  Until the glorious day when the REBAR arrives at my door, my restless MT soul will be focusing on Gerbers and such!

I'm not knocking your viewpoint at all Sean, in fact I agree with it, I always thought the Fuse was ripe to have many more variations done.  I'd love to see LM make 3 or 4 simple variations on the REBAR, but I'm not going to hold my breath. :-\

I didn't think you were, it is good to be corrected when you mis-speak.  I don't want false info out there any more than anyone else!  As far as Rebar variations go, I would love to see a version with scissors at least.  I too think we probably won't see any more variations as far as tool loadout.

I also just noticed that the REBAR has a crimper underneath the pivot of the pliers!  Can't wait.

I saw that too! A good addition.

I'm a big fan of the aircraft cable cutter on the Surge/Core/ST300 as well.
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver and the Vic backspring philips.

Ya thats a good weight.  If there is a way for me to attach a lanyard I could pocket carry EDC that.

Right now it looks like it's going to be $59.85 suggested retail, which should put it around the $35 to $45 everyday discount price range.

I been wondering and looking local too, nothing yet.  Checked the usual places, Cabelas, Dick's & Amazon as well.

They are killing me with this.  How hard is it to give us some sort of concrete release date?

IIRC they don't exactly have a spotless record when it comes to sticking to promised release dates, so perhaps this time they are going to hold off until they are absolutely ready to ship.

I heard that they are shipping the REBARs about the second or third week in April.  Should be in stores at the end of April or early May.

Something Juli said Monday:

"Leatherman Rebar will begin shipping in April from the states. It will arrive in Germany a few weeks after this and then ship our from there to the retailers. I am guessing mid May you should see it on shelves.
Monday at 3:09pm

EDIT 1:
Something Juli agreed with on March 16th:

Russ Long: "Rebar will be shipping from factory in April, most likely in stores May-June. I believe there will be multiple SKUs with different sheaths available."

EDIT 2:
A photo of the current instruction sheet now shipping with all tools:

So this will in essence differ from a Blast by the new head design and replacing the mini precision screwdriver/scissors for an awl/serrated blade?

I assume it should also be more heavily constructed, stronger, like the ST300

We will see how more heavy duty it is than a blast... not much sense upgrading if you don't use awls much

Will the Phillips driver be of the same dimensions than the other Phillips drivers? I want to know if the bit adapter will fit on it? I prefer the non-OHO multitools but the adapter and the bits are quite handy.

And how does the removable scales look and work?
