Have they announced when the Slag comes out?

Whats that?

Noun: Stony waste matter separated from metals during the smelting or refining of ore.

Common in welding rebar, most certainly a joke :-)

I thought it was clever. Although for a name it would scare me, as I would shorten the definition above to unrefined waste....lol

Yup- we are looking forward to it as well.  SHOT is always the high point of our year, kind of like the knife, gun and tool Superbowl!  :D

If there's any way to wrest one from Leatherman, we'll have it!

I would imagine that if they have any updated info they will wait until SHOT to announce it.  Juli may let something go on the Facebook page, but no formal announcements as far as I know.

i am looking forward to this one. i like the idea of the supertool style pliers on a wave sized tool, but i hope the internal tools done clump like the supertool 300. that has its moments where it just slows you down.

That's going to be a judgement call I think.  Some folks like it, others don't. :-\

I'm just hoping that the pliers are more comfortable to use than the ST300, too fat and the legs don't sit near enough to each other when deployed IMO.  Here's what I mean:

Original Supertool and Blast in pic.  Original Supertool's legs are nice and near each other and so sit well in the palm of the hand, Blast's (and ST300's) sit much further apart and so I find less comfy to use. :-\

i see what you mean. some may like it and others dont. it has the marmite effect.

i see what you mean but the picture but i like the blast pliers so anything like that would be great for me. im going to hold off on the rebar till i see what others think.

the width of the plier handles has unfortunately been growing across the board with leatherman. ALL of theit full size tools, now feel like they were made for someone much larger. I am hoping the rebar will be better than the ST300 which feels enormous. I have been seriouslly pondering grinding some metal out of mine just to cut back on it as I am having more and more problems with my hands the older I get.  I really wish leatherman would research the ergonomics of this issue further.

My father also has issues with his hands as he gets older.  It seems that after a lifetime of hard work you are rewarded with even simple tasks getting harder.  I got him a SOG PowerAssist last year and he loves the Compound Leverage because it allows him to grip and cut things he wouldn`t be able to otherwise.

I'm also quite excited by this tool. With the demise of the Knifeless Fuse, I would like to see a couple of versions of this tool.

1. The original.
2. A version with scissors.
3. A knifeless version.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I like this idea as well.  In fact I'm sure we've had this kind of discussion before, but regarding the Fuse and it having more options.

That is exciting!!!!!!  I can hardly wait!!  The pics are awesome, this tool looks like it will have the quality of the oldies.  I hope it is a solid replacement for the blast, I've been waiting for one for 3 years.
