Does this qualify as a multitool?

Belt/Disc Sander from Canadian Tire

I was sitting here at the computer earlier today when a small mouse brazenly walked into my office space.  My wife has been telling me we had a mouse for a while, but there haven't been many signs, so while I dealt with it, I didn't really put a huge amount of effort into catching it.  After all, this is a three unit building, and up until recently there have been six dogs in here.  Mice, at least smart ones, don't go places where there are large predators around.

Still, he wandered in and back out again so casually that I figure he must think he's getting away with something, outsmarting extremely large dogs, so I went to Canadian Tire to pick up some live traps.  I decided to go to CT because the last trap I bought cost me $25 at another store and CT had similar traps listed for $7.  No brainer, right?

I got to Canadian Tire, found my traps and decided to take a quick look around.  I shouldn't do this as it usually costs me money, and today is no exception!  As I wandered through the tool section I found a cute little table top tool chest that I was tempted by, but for $32 it was a bit much for what would be too small to even hold a full sized multitool.  So, I kept walking and almost wet myself when I spotted the belt/dic sander I've been wanting for years for 40% off!

It didn't take much time for me to decide to grab the last one off the shelf!

I'm considering it a multitool since it has at least dual purposes, even if they are both sanding!

Well if my Hoover vacuum/hardwood floor cleaner counts, I'm sure this will too.  :D

I have that exact sander. I love it.

It however, is not a cold weather tool. Anything below 0 Celcius (yah, Canadian..blah) and it takes a LOT to get going :)

I heard the same thing from a reviewer at canadiantire.com.  It still beats the belt/disc sander I'm currently using, which is none!  :P

Up till now I've used a combination of a Dremel tool and angle grinder to try and do everything, and that's not quite as effective as you'd think!

No joke! I actually shaped everything on that little guy on my Mjolnirman build. Make sure you get the big rubber dressing stick. Itll extend the life of the belt/disc tenfold!

Threads like these make me REALLY tempted to just make the drive across the Ambassador bridge and go to Canadian Tire. Perk(s?) of being in Detroit.  :P

Don't doubt the usefulness of the Dremel though!  I love mine.  I only have a bench grinder and a dremel at the moment.  Some thoughtless individuals here in Tx decided they needed my Angle grinder(and circular saw, and drill battery charger(what?! who steals that?)) more than I did.  I mounted my bench grinder to a sturdy table so it's stuck good!

The Dremel is great, it's just inconvenient when you want a stationary tool and moveable work piece.

Yea it really is.  I love mine though, I use it more than almost anything else in my shop.  I guess that sadly reflects how small and poorly equipped my shop is.  I need a mill...

I have a well equipped shop but my shop is awful :)

I really need less shack like attributes.

Bought the oscillating sander, 2 scissor MTs and a wire stripper MT!
