Wow!!!He said the blade had light scratches and could possibly be buffed out.It looks like someone tried to sharpen the blade with a hammer.

For $5 it might be worthwhile from an interesting knife point of view, but as there's no date stamp I'd say it's a Pioneer, not a Soldier.  Still, it's a good thing he took lots of photos, because his description is way off.  That thing is beat to heck and back.

ALL BLADES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION,IT HAS BEEN SHARPED THE BLADE HAS SOME LIGHT SCRATCHES FROM WHO EVER SHARPENED THEY PROBABLE COULD BE BUFFED OUT, PLEASE SEE PICTURES. THE HANDLE IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT HAS A SMALL DENT UP TOWARD THE BIG BLADE. THE RED FINISH IS RUB OFF LEVING A COOL LOOKING CHECKER LOOK ON IT. OVER ALL A NICE KNIFE FOR USE OR COLLECTING. PLEASE SEE PICTURES TO JUDGE CONDITION FOR YOURSELF. THE KNIFE CLOSED IS 3 1/2" LG BLADE IS 2 1/2" LG. IT PERTY COOL LOOKING VINTAGE KNIFE. THERE ARE NO DATES ON IT.

Would you really describe the main blade as being in "good condition"? it looks like someone attacked it with an angle grinder.

THE SCRATCHES ON IT ARE NOT REAL DEEP BUT VERY VISIBLE THEY ARE DEEP ENOUGH HOW EVER TO TAKE THE FINISH OFF. WITH SOME WORK IT PROBABLE COULD BE RESTORED WITH SOME FINE SANDING AND BUFFING.THE BALDE ITS SELF IS INTAKE AND TIGHT, NO REAL AMOUNT OF METAL GONE. BUT YOU DO NEED TO LOOK AT THE PHOTOS TO JUDGE I KNOW THIS CAN BE DIFFICULT TO DO. SO I WOULD SAY THE FINISH IS BAD THE BLADE ITS SELF IS IN GOOD SHAPE. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANK YOU.

I sent a blade like that to vic for repair under warranty (though I said I'd be happy to pay), they were good enough to replace the blade, even give it a brushed finish and '60s tang stamp in keeping with the age.
