Tim Leatherman's EDC
on: September 30, 2011, 04:50:57 AM
There is a contest on the Leatherman facebook page:

CONTEST :: What is Tim Leatherman's EDC and when did he start carrying it? Guys who visited the other day from MT.org...no fair answering. Contest open till tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. PST.

That will be the best way to find out what he carries.

Has to be a special run Surge, perhaps mostly titanium and aluminum.  :D

I'm guessing a wave or a charge, but I don't know exactly which.

The original Leathernman from before it was called a PST.  Imagine how the value on those would go up if it turned out that he actually did EDC one of those.

I'm pretty sure he said he "sent" out prototypes of those first MTs to companies he tried to start off with (even the military) in the beginning, can you imagine what those are worth?! :ahhh (dreams)

but they might have been just pictures, now I'll have to find out! doh

No guessing to it. He carries a RayzBladez WaCharSurgetool II in a bison hide sheath. I cut him a deal.

I faintly remember a Blast mentioned at some point

Clearly for maximum bling it would have to be the Charge Del Rey  :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

He could, but that would cut cash flow. Gerber Suspension all the way... He uses it like toilet paper and doesnt want to mess up his LM Flair

From Juli:

"So the final answer is (from Tim), "The Charge Ti, with the full bit kit in a nylon sheath. In the sheath I also carry the clip, the detachable lanyard, the bit extender, and two T8 bits. I started carrying this particular tool on Jan. 10, 2008. I engraved the date on the knife blade.""

That was it allright, a Charge Ti :salute: Right side (vertical) carry. And it had definitely seen some use, too. :)

I forgot to look at Tim's EDC to see if it had a S30V blade...I was betting that it did.  You know the corks in wine bottles are very abrasive.

I seen that before and that does not look anything like Tim Leatherman. And Tim doesn't look the type to have that hairy of a chest, and the res glasses? This fella looks older and heavier than pictures I've seen of him.

And that patch on his shirt...

Agreed, that's not Tim. :salute:  But he did tell us his technique for opening wine bottles by stabbing through the cork with a knife :)
