Mat should be in a really good squirrel fishing area soon. Near the Monterey Bay Aquarium is the Dennis the Menace Park. This is probably the best public park ever. From Yelp!

I digress...when we were there the squirrels were very tame and numerous. We had a package of Oreo cookies and the squirrels would come up to you and take the cookie from your hand. The squirrel fishing would be great at that park. But I was amazed at how the squirrels loved those Oreo's.

I recommend a simple slip knot over the middle of the nut to secure it. The goal is really only to get them off the ground, and they don't weight very much
