Modding a bag?
on: October 10, 2011, 11:43:11 PM
Anyone ever try to change/mod a bag/backpack? I have a camelbak hawg that I was wanting to change from two straps to a single strap. Advice?
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Not personally but nuphoria's done plenty. Hopefully she'll be along soon.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I did a couple... turned a Lunada in to a backpack. Certainly not an expert though!

You planning on doing it yourself?

You should mod it so it has two bladders. One with booze and the other with a chaser.  :D Two tubes for easily switching between the two.

Nope sorry I don't drink. The only thing I have is a glass of good wine on special occasions.

Well, like I said I'm no expert. I basically took the appropriate parts apart and put them back together the wrong way!

You need to buy very strong nylon thread and I recommend getting yourself a sewing awl or good leather type needles. If you are doing it on a machine I'm sure it's a lot easier but I have no experience of that.

There's a really talented bag maker on EDCF who just posted a tutorial which you might find helpful: http://edcforums.com/showthread.php/88416-E-E-small-daypack-tutorial

Nuphoria, don't sell yourself short. If I had the guts, I'd do nearly the same thing with my Malaga.
