Jawbone Icon
on: October 15, 2011, 08:26:36 PM
My best friend and business partner gave me a gift last night, a Jawbone Icon and I have to say this thing is awesome. I've had various hands free phone accessories over the years but nothing remotely as good as this device. The call quality is really fantastic, the comfort is great, the design and interface is simple and intuitive, it charges quickly via AC adapter or computer USB port, has a standby time of 10 days with 4 hours of talk time. Really, I can't think of anything I dislike about this device :tu:

Glad it works for you. I personally have never had the desire for a Bluetooth.

Eventually it will be illegal to talk & drive... maybe this will be the answer.

Has anyone you called commented on sound quality from their end?

It already is in California. You must have a Bluetooth to talk and drive. Its also illegal to text or do anything on your phone really.

I prefer a Bluetooth headset.  My hearing is a bit messed up and the Jeep is pretty loud inside.  I find using the speakerphone more difficult to hear than to have a headset right in my ear with the background road/engine noise.  I have a Sennheiser VMX100 and I love it.

I think it probably sounds better than the phone's built in speaker and mic.

I talk with the friend who bought this for me for about 2 hours a day on average. He has the previous generation of the model he got for me and the microphone quality of this device is superb. On the occasions where he runs out of earpiece battery and switches to talking directly into the phone, I can barely tell any difference. The device he has allows him to turn on and off noise assasin, the noise cancellation technology, which can't be turned off on mine, and we have tested it in a variety of environments and it does what it claims. Of course, if your in the middle of a hurricane it won't have much effect.

I'm one of the few people I know who really dislikes talking on the phone while driving. I try to avoid it completely unless I'm on an empty highway. But sometimes it's unavoidable, like when caravanning to a job site or a call comes in that you just have to take. The law here is hands free for driving, you can get a ticket for holding a phone, but that doesn't seem to stop most folks.
