After promising myself no more Multi-Buys unless it was at a price not to be missed, I went and bought a Mag Solitaire today 

Sure, it may not have LEDs, it may not have five hundred mcsmurfillion lumens and a four thousand year burn time, but it's small, it's sturdy, and it uses a single AAA battery.

I'm using dropping a pocket knife at around midnight in the grass as an excuse for a new torch

This doesn't qualify as a multi purchase, it's a light, so you are still safe.

As far as the Solitaire goes, I still have two of them and I have no plans to get rid of them any time soon.

There are some really easy mods you can do to that Solitaire if you're interested.  I usually pop a 5mm LED (or 3mm) into mine... it is a HUGE improvement!
